Saw the reviews and was in area collecting something, thought the would be amazing, with such great reviews and also award winning. Really disappointed though, we had to chunky pies, the actual pastry was lovely, the gravy was OK however under seasoned, the itself, 5 small bits of steak, tough, chewy and some which were just hard fat! Really didn't enjoy it, so disappointed, nor sure if we just had the only two bad pies/off day. I popped in and got a chunky pie for my lunch. Absolutely delicious. This is the sort of food you need on these frosty, winter days. The is clean and welcoming, with helpful staff. The aroma of freshly baked goods fills the air, a tempting invitation to indulge. One of those places that you just have to seek out when you are in the area. Beautiful made freshly daily to take away with you, also frozen ones to bake at home are available. Never disappointed when I've been here. Received a delivery of a Pie box. Various but my favourites are the sublime Puddings. Hard to source in Scotland so these beauties hit the spot via DHL Bowen Pies: Proof That Beat Any Day If life were a dessert menu, chocolate might get the fancy headlines, but Bowen is here to prove that pies—glorious, savory pies—are the true champions of comfort food. Forget sugar highs and rich ganache; there’s nothing more satisfying than biting into a perfectly baked pie, and no one does it better than Bowen Pies. It’s not just the pies, though—they’ve got a secret weapon. Enter the Night Manager, the behind-the-scenes genius running this operation like a well-oiled machine. While the rest of us are counting sheep or binging TV shows, they’re orchestrating a pie symphony that ensures every crust, filling, and sprinkle of seasoning is absolute perfection by morning. Take the meat and potato pie, for instance. This isn’t just a pie—it’s a masterpiece. Every bite is a celebration of tender meat, hearty potatoes, and gravy so good it could bring world peace. Forget the fleeting pleasure of chocolate cheesecake; this is the kind of satisfaction that sticks with you. (Not to mention, a slice of has never fixed a bad day quite like a meat and potato pie can.) And don’t even get me started on the chunky pie. Packed with hunks of so juicy and flavorful, it makes you wonder why anyone would choose a dessert over this beauty. The buttery, flaky crust is like a warm hug for your taste buds, and let’s face it—no crust in the world can hold a candle to Bowen’s pastry. Here’s the thing about pies: they’re versatile. They’re the unsung heroes of both celebrations and “I just need a moment” days. You can eat a pie standing up, sitting down, or curled up on the couch. Try doing that with a chocolate without ending up with frosting in your hair. But what really sets Bowen apart is the love and care baked into every bite. This family-run isn’t just making pies; they’re crafting edible joy, all under the watchful eye of the Night Manager. From the meticulous preparation to the perfectly timed bakes, it’s a seamless operation designed to make your day a whole lot better. So, the next time someone offers you a chocolate cheesecake, think twice. Sure, it’s sweet, but can it compete with the rich, hearty goodness of a Bowen pie? Spoiler alert: it can’t. Life’s too short for second-best—treat yourself to the real deal, and thank the Night Manager for making it all possible. Bowen Pies: because don’t just fill your stomach; they fill your soul. 🥧 > 🍫 Cheesecake. Every. Single. Time. We had family visiting so we decided we would pop into our favourite and pick up some and some sausage rolls. In the afternoon, I actually wanted to return the because they were awful chewy bits of and not a lot of it. Lady in the told me they have no more and that they don’t ever really have these sort of issues and there was not a lot she could do. Said she would get somebody called Paul to give me a ring, but that has never been forthcoming We have not been back in the pie since the customer service attitude is terrible. They are absolutely fantastic with you when you’re parting with your money but when you come back to complain about something they’re not interested. Only the best for the birthday girl tomorrow 🙌 ❤️ Very expensive for such little pies. £4.50 for a pie that should have cost about £2.40 at the most. Can get larger for that price. Also Cheese n onion pie, disapointed. It had small pieces of potatoes in it. So it's not a Cheese and onion pie then. Love my weekly treat of potato & meat pie and vanilla slice. Lovely girls and very polite, love a good chat with them, they make my day. Service with a smile, as always. Can't wait for next week for my regular treat.
