Car park has been extended massively, actually it's too big now one has to pay £2 for a 90 minute or less stay. Don't bother with the app, it tries to charge you even more. Card payment at the machine is best. It's decent enough, I couldn't find the AR app so I think that's no longer available, also, I would strongly recommend downloading the geocache app as there are some awesome caches and makes for a good walk Really enjoyed my visit(s) - the information boards help bring the large site to life. The car park is a reasonable £1.50. I walked here on my first visit - it's a really nice approach using the permissive footpaths on High Ash Farm but I can't recommend walking along the road directly from Caistor St Edmund. Can recommend watching the Time Team special "Boudica's Lost Tribe" if you want to learn more about the site and it's context. The Roman town of Venta Icenorum. The huge town ditch and good portions of the town walls still survive. The church of St Edmund sits just inside the town walls (check out the Medieval graffiti just inside it's door!). Beautiful countryside, perfect for walking. The car park is a decent size too, just be careful about what you leave on display - a police notice mentions thieves like to operate in the area. Great place to either start or end a walk around the area. Parking charges are reasonable and the machine is easy to use. Card or phone payments only no cash. The site is well maintained with lots of signs providing explanation of its history. No cafe/shop/toilets. Really enjoyed the time here. I think they are expanding the car parking area!! In the spring, lots of baby lambs. We are so lucky to have these areas for the public. <3 the dogs enjoyed their time there. Excellent dog walking spot. Lots of different routes with a river for the pups to play in. Beautiful scenery. Church on the site that do cream teas on sundays in the summer season.
