Had an absolutely lovely meal here. I had the fish and chips as my main meal and it was lovely. My son had the steak pie which was huge and was very nice. My daughter had mac and cheese again she loved it and ate the lot. Some good beers on tap. My reason for marking a star off the service was that attention to drinks was poor. Had to try and get someone’s attention each time and then wait for a new drink. Can’t fault the restaurant; food and staff excellent and well worth a visit! Great choices on the menu with the haddock and chips especially worth a mention. And, of course, the spiced apple and plum crumble with custard! Basically, I think you could pick anything off the menu and it would be great! Didn’t stay as I live in Fife. However I had early dinner today and it was really good. Owners got really lucky to have such fantastic staff. Also the place is spotless clean and just so happened to to visit on steak special day. Perfectly cooked and that peppercorn sauce is the best I’ve ever had. Such a generous portion for the cost. Definitely going back for the Sunday roast next week. Perfect for a nice we dinner date :) Went for a meal as we were staying locally. Booked a table as we had been before and knew the food was good and it got busy. Initially we were seated and served quickly ( and our main meal was good) but after that we sat for al long time with not one member of staff asking if we would like another drink or a pudding, I also tried to catch the eye of a waitress with no success. This led us to leave as did several other diners which meant a loss of extra revenue for the restaurant due to inattentive staff! We attended a wedding here on Saturday. The attention to detail was great, the staff were very attentive and took the time to get things right. The hotel is lovely and has a great outdoor space. The only downside is getting across the road safely from the other car park. There is a blind corner and it took a while to get across the road..
