This allows you to board either in the Tram or Train It depends on the timing when you reach. The Train from here takes you to another Haven Street. From there you can go further inside the woods to enjoy the beautiful nature and quietness of the nature. You can either buy tickets either on the counter or online. Online is cheaper by £2 only. Kids friendly place. Found many compartments reserved for coach parties in the morning but still plenty of seats and more choice at the end of the afternoon. Beautiful tranquil place to visit. We stopped at one of the stations but didn't take a ride. Interesting to watch them swop the engine around from one side to other. Looking at the countryside I expect it would be very scenic. When it comes to Heritage Railways you are either a fan or not. For the fans this railway will not disappoint, the stations are all well maintained with an interesting array of memorabilia. The line runs through interesting countryside. A good all round day out. I believe this is by far the best attraction on the Isle of Wight. Real engines are used to draw real refurbished carriages across the track from Wootton to SmallBrook. If travelling by bus then you can catch the train from Wootton as the rest of the are not directly accessible unless travelling by car. Haven Street is the main where They have the main attractions, old carriages, repair workshops etc and the trains are parked here at the end of the day. They give you a nice Puzzle to solve when you buy tickets, and you can find the clues as you move around Havenstreet. Keeps you and your kids engaged. You get a nice badge if you're able to complete the puzzle. Once you buy the tickets, you are able to the trains multiple times from 10 am to 5 pm making it good value. You can actually spend the whole day exploring and no holiday to the Isle of Wight is complete without this unique experience. A CHARMING and peaceful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. If you've experienced the Watercress Line in Hampshire, then the IOW equivalent offers a similar experience, just on a smaller scale with fewer crowds. We took bus number 9 from Ryde to Wootton station, which took approx. 20 minutes, to join the train at one end of the line. The price of entrance to the railway is quite cheap for the value it offers, which includes entrance to a few modern museum buildings adjacent to the main station. Allow 2-3 hours to get the most from this attraction, or stay longer to enjoy potentially unlimited travel up and down the (fairly short) line throughout the day. A lovely heritage railway. We were drawn by an 0-6-0 tank engine. At Have street there's a shop, a small but interesting museum, a restaurant with a good variety of dishes, and a presentation area (which we didn't visit. We joined at Smallbridge junction (access only by standard train, no road or footpath entrance) and travelled via Haven Street to Wootton, where we picked up a no 9 bus (Ryde to Newport). A fantastic day out. We booked a hamper experience which gave us access to s First Class compartment for the day. The food and drink were excellent and facilities at Havenstreet were well maintained. Travel tips - leave the car or motorhome for the day and get the number 9 bus from Ryde or Newport to Wootton Station. Or catch the mainline Island Rail service to Smallbrook Junction. I was treated to a day out here for my birthday. It was the 1940's Weekend. Boarding at Small Smallbrook Junction Station, we had a compartment to ourselves (pure luck as opposed to planned) and we enjoyed a behind a vintage locomotive all the way to the other end of the line at Wootten and back to Havenstreet where the 1940's events we being held. There were many stalls we could purchase vintage items as well as looking at a plane, bus, cars, motorbikes, and we chatted to actors in character talking about what it was like living at that time. There were also singers on a stage which we excellent. We had a wander around the museum there to see vehicles from the past. Our day ended with another back to Smallbrook Junction Station. A wonderful day. A pleasant place but a little expensive for what you get. Train is 6 minutes left or right then back again because there was nothing to get off for. Then 6 minutes the other direction and back because there was nothing at the end to get off for. You can get tea/coffee or a meal and see the train shed at the middle but not enough for the money. Absolutely fantastic day out. Well worth the money. My wife lost her phone at the main and not only was it handed in but the amazing folks who run the railway posted it back to her.
