Great evening here for last night of the Proms. The Abbey looks great when lit up. Nice This is indeed a very beautiful place. There are many details to appreciate. When I first heard about Titchfield Abey, I thought that there would be less of it than there was. I was pleased to see that a substantial amount of the Abbey remained. It is a populat spot for people who are walking their dogs and I recommend it is a lovely place to visit. There is a place in which one enters a doorway and has to ascend a steep flight of stairs, which is an interesting aspect to Titchfield Abbey. You must this fabulous place Wonder to wander around, £2 charge if you're not an English Heritage member. Plenty of green lawn and a few benches to picnic on. An almost hidden gem. Easy to miss, you access a narrow gateway opposite the Fisherman's Rest pub. Just a few spaces, this location is ideal for kids and dogs. Small but perfectly formed ruined Abbey that was converted to a private dwelling before being abandoned. Entry to the site is free with paid for visitors except English Heritage members who park free. What a gem. Great information boards giving the historical information most would find helpful. Free admission aswell. I spent a brilliant evening at Titchfield Abbey, which was the location for an orchestral spectacular A night at the Oscars. As the sun went down, the Abbey looked amazing, illuminated by all the colours of the rainbow. A beautiful backdrop for wonderful entertainment. Loved it. History beneath our feet It's free and there's a small car park but my friend and I parked at the Stewarts Garden Centre and after spending some time there walked to the nearby Abbey. Amazing that some of it is still standing and the tiles were beautiful. The of this 13th Century Abbey which was remodelled into a grand mansion following the Dissolution of monasteries during Henry V111's reign, is a lovely little if in the area. Maintained by English Heritage it is Free entry. There is an area for which is through a small, tight entrance. I walked here so not sure if free orher than if your an English Heritage member. The are lovely to walk around and I noted a number of people sitting on the grass areas enjoying picnics. There are 2 porta loos (Toilets) available. If you like in the middle of nowhere with no facilities then this is for you. Free off road parking. If you are in the area, Titchfield Abbey is definitely worth a visit. It offers a glimpse into the past and a peaceful setting to enjoy a day out. Worth a few minutes of your time if passing to see this ruined Tudor mansion. Combine with a trip to the church in the nearby village of Titchfield for an interesting insight into the 'Risley' Earls of Southampton. Nice in the sun for a walk and picnic Titchfield Abbey is a very atmospheric place. It's in but still a fascinating place to walk around. It makes you wonder, who were the people who lived here centuries ago? This is a stunning historical site that transports visitors back in time. Nice 30mins look around or longer if you bring a picnic. Drive through gate is narrow and yes that is the only entrance. We'll worth a look if you are passing. Some nice tiles. Well worth a visit. Free to enter with a £2 charge payed via phone. A very quiet and peaceful area with on site parking. Info about the building is very interesting. This was a real surprise! It wasn't on our list but we realised that we were close after visiting Nettley Abbey. Titchfield Abbey is really lovely, so much to look at. There is a small carpark in the grounds but it will fill up fast in nice weather. So make sure you check your options locally should the on site on be full. Boyfriend chose this place to just yesterday. It wasn't raining really hard but just drizzles. Anyways, still we enjoyed the place. He loves historical places so we went to Titchfield Abbey. Ride the bus X4/X5 from Central Station, used Google maps to see where we are and where we're stopping. Bought return tickets as well. It was a not so long walk from the bus stop. Great people!
