Recommend walking up the valley along side the river to the viewpoint (ignore the path closed sign, it’s not closed) and return down the path to the right. This is one of the prettiest in the UK, surpassed only by Loweswater’s Holme Force. The lower cascade, however, could have still swung it. A short circular walk, following the river Esk, lovely woodland, and an impressive gorge, before climbing rock steps to the upper falls platform. Many families out on this route with young children. Allow a couple of hours for this walk, and consider the weather conditions, as the steps are potentially slippery after rain. The waterfalls themselves are beautiful! It’s also completely free as it’s a public trail. However google maps might take you to a farm and ask you to drive through it, you cannot do this. Instead you need to park at the top of the road, and for 2km through the countryside to get to the entrance gate. Once there you can down the falls, look at them from the platform and hike up and down the paths to see different parts of the waterfalls. Overall, a beautiful and scenic place! Very nice place.
