The temperatures within are truly scorching, so you'd best avoid it on a very hot day (by England standards 30 degrees celsius or higher) all together! Despite this I'd reccomend the experience of walking through it and seeing the M3 beneath you, provided you're able to use the stairs and you don't on a hot day of course! An absolutely scintillating experience. Will definitely come again. Obviously well looked after as stinks of paint 🤪🤪 but could be abit more waterproof, is leaking in places. I'll probably stop off again, to be fair, but the memory of this fleeting will be with me whatever happens going forward. I fancied playing a card game with a DJ, so I sought out Scott Mills Bridge. Turned up at 1am and no one was there playing Bridge. So the object of my attention list it’s purpose. So in fact I suspect that Scott Mills skills are zero and I am disillusioned now that I wasted my journey here. And it is also a poorly constructed passage access a road to nowhere. Tear it down and build a better one! Please! There was The Brookyln Bridge, Tower Bridge, Sydney Harbour and The Golden Gate Bridge. NOW there is The Scott Mills Bridge! A triumph of the modern era. Architecture at its absolute finest. Standing proudly as a symbol of togetherness. The North and South are at peace here in this sacred spot. Thank you Scott Mills. The Scott Mills completely changed my perspective. When I arrived, I was just some regular guy, standing in the Northbound services, staring South across the M3. But, before my was over, everything had changed and I found myself in the Southbound services, gazing Northwards. You too can find yourself in Fleet Southbound services - all you have to do is take the Scott Mills from the Northbound rest area. (Stairs directly outside the toilets). It was the same indistinct stretch of motorway that I had beheld only moments earlier, yet now I was able to contemplate it from an entirely different angle. For the first time I understood what it means to see something from both sides, literally! "I don't think we're in Kansas any more," I muttered to nobody in particular, like some kind of giant, moronic cliché. And, in a very real sense, I was right. Don't be caught out by the bridge's popularity. It must be one of the busiest tourist attractions I have visited. In the short time I was there, several hundred tourists drove past - in both directions. Although the view from the road is adequate, they were all missing out IMHO. The best way to experience the overpass is to pull into the car park, nip over the on foot, and grab yourself a Burger King on the other side. [Chef kiss] Unsurprisingly, I am not the only person to have taken inspiration from this nondescript little motorway crossing. Back in the early 90's, a little known Hampshire-based DJ was evidently so impressed by his to the famous span that he changed his name to that of the itself: Scott Mills. And that young man eventually went on to host his own national show on BBC Radio 1. This just goes to show, if you are looking to forge a career in the entertainment industry, then you could do a lot worse than changing your name to that of an inspirational bridge. PS - If you are planning a family day out around your to the Scott Mills Bridge, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is less than half an hour's drive, while Chessington World of Adventures & Greater London are reachable in under 45 minutes. A true British landmark; if your idea of culture is peeling ceiling paint and existential dread. Feels like Banksy and a Year 8 art class had a go, then Scott Mills finished it during a midlife crisis. I didn’t touch anything (for legal and medical reasons), but I left emotionally changed. 2 stars. A must-see ONCE. I did, however, have to walk there and back… and seriously considered playing a game of motorway roulette rather than endure it twice. Awesome experience. Well worth a visit.
