Long-time gin lover here. I was generally aware of the history and had had Jenever a few times before, but this was both informational and fun. Great tasting experience with one of the master distillers!! And then the working windmill with all the explanations about how it works. Highly recommend a visit. The national jenever museum was a highlight of monument weekend. Set over 4 easily accessible floors, the displays are super engaging and translated into English. There's plenty to keep both big and little kids interested, including a sampling room. It's run for the people, by the people...proudly staffed by passionate volunteers. It's a deep dive into the Jenever history, which interlaces with Schiedam history. Everything is well maintained, the staff is friendly and I recommend the tasting at the end of the tour. Really enjoyed Well kept museum with good audio guide. The genever tasting at the end of the tour is the highlight of a perfect experience. Nice history of genever, with some smell experiences and tastings at the bar Super friendly staff who spoke great English. Museum was interesting and a fun experience. Would recommend the distillery tour and going to the windmill. Paired with a visit to the windmill, we had a great experience. Went on a quiet day and the volunteers were more than happy to talk about the history and mechanics of the windmill and the brewing process, etc . All spoke very good English. Also did the tasting at the end and we left a little tipsy with two bottles! Many thanks Charming, informative although only.some.of the information was available in English. Sadly the back only opens at 1pm for the tastings (this isn't clear on the website) but we were able to purchase two tastings Good displays and good cometary in Dutch and English.
