The "Chaos de Mardoul" is a magical place. Situated on the small river "l'Éllez," this area is characterized by enormous rocks scattered along and in the middle of it, hence its unique name. The area is so charming and beautiful that you'd almost think it was created by romantic giants. The rocks invite you to jump from rock to rock and walk across the river. Or you can sit on the rocks and enjoy this fairytale-like area. And if you're feeling up to it, take a dip in the water. Of course, you can also sit in the grass under a tree along the river and have a picnic, as we did. At two points, you'll find very old stone bridges for easy crossing. This allows you to take a short walk through this beautiful area. Incidentally, this area was already a hotspot in pre-Christian times. In some of the stones, you'll find carved circular cavities that suggest sacrificial channels from pre-Christian ceremonies. At least, that's what I read online. It's easily accessible by car. There's even a parking lot. But we reached this spot during a circular walk from the village of Loqueffret. And we found it just as beautiful here as the rocks in Huelgoat.
