Brilliant. Great and service. Wonderful freshly prepared food. Well worth visiting for a snack or meal. Outstanding! Having read many glowing reviews about this & its tearoom/cafe, we just had to pay a visit, plus we were staying in a holiday cottage a mere 5 miles away, so a no brainer. We weren't disappointed, some of the best I've ever had & food of the highest quality, I had the bacon & sausage cob, my wife, a bacon & egg cob, absolutely sensational, plus, you really get your money's worth. The is fabulous, all locally sourced meat products of the highest quality, the sausages in particular have some amazing ingredients, unless you're a veggie or vegan, although I'm sure they cater for you too, you'll most likely be taking some home with you, many other butcher & grocery items are also available from here. My advice, go there now, especially if it's time. Wonderful cafe and shop. Great pork pies. Cakes and available. Big car park. staff. Lovely rural location. Highly recommended. Great views. Vast array of coffees, hot chocolates, teas and milkshakes. variety of breakfasts and hot goodies. Small choice of cakes and Bakewells but the and walnut was a bit dry and lacked flavour, maybe a buttercream may help Really excellent breakfast. Full works Inc black pudding. Proper tea, served in a pot with loose leaf and a tea strainer. Lots of tea flavours to choose from and full choice with decaf. Fantastic shop. Had a steak and stilton pie to take out. Great chunks of steak and really flavoursome withe the stilton. Bought some plain flour and wholemeal flour from a local supplier. Staff are very helpful and polite, both in the and cafe. Definitely worth the drive from Sheffield. Visited on a quiet Thursday in early Spring 2025 - Lovely hot in the Cafe - The is small put the butcher counter has a superb array of really nice local beef, lamb and game - What we bought was escellent wuality as were the jars of relish that we also had. Definitely worth a - Prices higher than supermarket equivalent but then again so was the 👍 Nice with a meat counter. The cafe was great, ladies working there and nice food, we only wished we had tried the bakewell tart - next time! My wife and I had here as we were staying nearby. The menu was excellent as there was plenty of choice. I had the bacon and sausage cob with extra black pudding and my wife had pancakes. For what you pay you get a lot and it's amazing quality. The are very too. Definitely returning. Secondly my sister and brother in law used the butchers and got some pies which they recommend too. Very friendly, great staff, nice food & very value. Very gluten free range, too. My wife and I decided to have a Sunday at your Caffe. We wish we hadn't to be honest. The food was cold which was bad enough. A member of took it into the kitchen and heated it up in the microwave. We specifically asked had they heated it up in a microwave, to be told they hadn't. The plates where stone cold, so it was obvious that had just put it in a microwave. I have experience of working in a kitchen and this practice is not only frowned appon, but is poor food hygiene. The teenage where stood around in the kitchen talking or on their phones, then had the audacity to say they where busy! Upon paying we where told they would take the tea off the bill, claiming we ate the food. We arrived just after half 10, and left at 11.20. what where we supposed to do after waiting so long? Go hungry or somewhere else? I do not appreciate being lied to, I do not appreciate claiming they are busy and standing about talking. Our plates of food must have been stood on the side for at least 5 minutes before serving. Perhaps try using warmed plates in the future! We will not be coming back. Second to the shop. selection of produce and fresh meat. and very reasonable prices. Certainly again when staying in the area again Great and Great with a range of their own sauces! They have all kinds of sausages and meats, all of which are delicious. Per kilo the beef is 20%+ higher in price than my local butchers, but you expect a little gouging with these types of places. the same. Great and a full lineup of products. Will be back! Lovely cafe spot, perfect for a bite midday. 10 of us (5 kids and 5 adults) were seated quickly and served promptly. The homity pie was great and all the kids loved the bacon baps. The butcher and was well stocked and friendly, we will definitely stop by again soon. Highfield House was an absolute lifesaver during lock-down, when they transformed into an all-singing, all-dancing where you could buy pretty much everything you needed. Their range is still brilliant and every Thursday, just after lunch, "Shaun the Fish" turns up in his van with his catch from the boats in Grimsby to sell delicious fish. Josh and his band of merry brothers and sisters at HHFS are all charming, knowledgeable and skilful. Particular faves for me are their lamb cutlets and - every few months - they have heritage breed Dexter cuts available. Josh also gets the veggie haggis for me, which I love (apols to all those true haggis lovers). But, this weekend, we had a very special treat indeed. They'd made hot water crust Dexter meat pies. OMG - these were sensational. Well, it was. The meat was cooked low and slow - the gravy ooooozed out and was rich and deeply flavoursome, pastry the right balance of crispy and soft. I have a mind to now only serve these to guests. Super reasonable at £6 per pie with masses to go round 2 people. This is an absolute must (but please don't buy them all before I get back to them). Bravo my friends :-) Marked down as prices to me were extremely expensive £4 for 2 slices of toast! A fiver for tea for 2, 12 quid for a small breakfast, if money is no object then it won’t bother you and the food is very delicious you will be happy. Went here for a last minute afternoon tea for my 60th birthday. Very accommodating with booking a table. Quite small inside but very cosy. Afternoon tea included made pork pie & ham/Brie quiche plus usual sandwiches, scones & Bakewell Tart which was more to my taste as I prefer savoury to sweet. incredibly welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our two dogs were made to feel welcome as well. Overall, not a Michelin starred experience but tasty & value. Would certainly again! Excellent Fanatic shop, everyone was very and helpful. Loads of choice will definitely be coming back! Staying nearby for the week up from London, found this lovely place. The breakfasts were amazing, scrambled egg in particular. Loads of tasty treats such as Bakewell slices, chocolate fudge brownies to munch on too. was great, could’ve spent a fortune! We got some steak pies which were delicious, big chunks of soft steak and lovely gravy. We’ll be back! Very service, and my wife is gluten free and they had plenty of selection and it was food, value and they looked after our dogs with fuss and sausages.
