The 'museum' is £2.50 payable via an honesty box. Just an update. Bridport was heaving... And too travel just a few miles out,and sit in peace and quite was beautiful... Especially for the quiet of the millpond and the beautiful awesome scones. And I don't know why I'm telling you. Because it's a secret hideaway far from the maddening crowds.. Great little hidden gem! We started our visit in the cosy little cafe, lots of choice and very nice food. A light rain shower then directed us into the very interesting museum, lots to see! including the wheel from the inside (apart from seeing the wheel, awkward steps are involved) then we emerged to the sun making an appearance onto the lovely lake, lots of benches, ducks and a little walk down to the sluice gates which is a very pretty little spot. Before we left we visited the gift/craft shop which was full of very reasonably priced items and plants for sale too. A very enjoyable morning of exploring and will definately be returning 😊 There was also an Art gallery but not sure on the opening days as closed on the Saturday we visited. Lovely with a good selection of home cooked food, including traditional Sunday roasts. There is a great art gallery to visit, as well as the Mill area. Parking is adequate but a bit tricky Brilliant little place, with a fabulous quirky and great tea house next door! Open Tuesdays - Sundays Beautiful location to while away a few hours. The Watermill has a working water wheel ( although not currently coupled to the grindstones the water wheel turns and a lot of the internal milling equipment is still in place.) Entrance 2.50 a head when we visited. The also houses an eclectic mix of old domestic equipment and tools from the last century. The next door is excellent and serves tea and cakes plus a more extensive breakfast and lunch menu. Behind the Mill there is a mown paddock to enable you to walk around the periphery of the Millpond and a separate footpath takes you through the trees to the sluice gates which are quite impressive with the River Mangerton cascading down the spillway. This is a delightful place. There is a cafe, craft shop, camping ground and pond. Beside the is a working mill wheel fed by a torrent of water that sounds amazing. The is open from 10-4 every day except Mondays (open on Bank Holiday Mondays though). The food in the is great. We had lunch - "vegetarian" bagels with side orders of chips. Delicious. The pond was in use by Model Boating enthusiasts, sailing some yachts and model ships - one making a chuffing sound and producing steam from its funnel. Great to see. The place is tucked away down a short driveway (quite a rough road surface) and the country lane is single car width in places, a couple of miles from the nearest main road, so we had to stop in wider passing places a couple of times to let cars pass. Lovely water mill & museum. Unfortunately the wasnt open today but we will return. The was nice & friendly .
