Went for an evening meal having tried the sister pub in Broadmayne. Looking at the menu and prices was expecting something a bit special. Lamb rump was more like a Sunday roast, very plain in flavour and cooked medium well. I should have requested pink. Chicken wings likewise whilst moist lacked any flavour and could not be described as Korean or at all spicy. Prawns were dry. Sea bass special was good as was cod in pancetta. Pancake rolls were likewise nothing to wow. Service was attentive and it was atmospheric. Maybe we should have chosen traditional pub grub and it would have met expectations. Stayed here for our 14 year wedding anniversary for one night and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful location, extremely clean and fresh facilities, and the room was perfect. Our only issue was the room was slightly warm however it was the beginning of August and out of the control of the owners! A fan may have helped but we didnt ask, so unsure if they would provide. Food was exceptionally good, both our dinner and breakfast were faultless. This place is a hidden gem indeed and we would love to return. We really enjoyed our visit. It looked like a modern extension has been added onto the existing building, and it was very light and spacious, with nice views of the surrounding countryside. There was so much choice on the menu, and the quality of the food was much higher than typical pub grub. The sardine with roasted beetroot and potato salad was a delicious starter, while the lemon and thyme roasted chicken with new potatoes and spring greens was equally good as my main. We happened to go on an evening where there was some live music on, which was a nice bonus. All in all, highly recommended. From one landlord to another, Jonathan and Ronnie, I wanted to say that you have such a lovely country pub, and it was the perfect venue for my aunt's wake. We enjoyed your wonderful buffet in the skittle alley, which was probably one of the best alley's I've ever seen here in the West Country. You are the best hosts, and we couldn't fault your hospitality. Your pub is massive and clearly very well looked after; you can tell your staff take pride in their work. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. We will definitely return when next in the area ☺ We came for the carvery and were not disappointed. The pub is charming and has a very inviting atmosphere, staff is lovely. Its beer garden looks out onto the fields, absolutely beautiful. The carvery was brilliant - great food with a generous spread. We also had dessert - the lemon meringue cheesecake (delicious) and the homemade choc mint and strawberry ice cream (also delicious). We're not local but when we come back to Dorset, we'll definitely pay the New Inn another visit. Just enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the New Inn (which came recommended). Beautiful setting with great countryside views from the garden, festoon lights and impressive hanging baskets make it picture perfect..warm and welcoming interior, very good selection of choices on the main and specials menu, plenty of parking and we are looking forward to returning to try the Carvery. Would highly recommend. A very dog friendly pub. A number of pleasant seating areas outside, with the garden having beautiful views of surrounding countryside. The food was well presented and of excellent quality and taste. The service was friendly and relaxed and fresh water was brought for our dog. Overall a great place to eat with reasonable prices for good quality food. A hidden gem 💎 Beautiful setting. Fantastic atmosphere. All staff were very friendly and provided very efficient and great service. The Sunday carvery was delicious and very generous. Desserts was divine. Highly recommend the Lemon meringue cheesecake. A lunchtime visit. Made to feel welcome. Good, friendly service, and certainly weren't rushed. Good tasty food. Had a waiter who was only on his second day, but was perfect in balancing professionalism and banter. We will return. Having tried several places in the area during our visit and having been disappointed at every one. We were so happy to find this little gem. They were able to seat us (16 people) all together at short notice. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted by a display of morris dancers outside. Then inside the service and the food were top notch and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill too. Great way to end our holiday and if we holiday in the area again we shall definitely pay another visit here.
