We had a society day here. The in the clubhouse were very welcoming dishing out bacon butties and coffee. The course was interesting and the like lightning. It was extremely dry as everywhere is at the moment. We all enjoyed the day. Municipality run course, so don't expect too much. Poor fairways and the temporary tee boxes were shocking. in a bit better condition, but only just. Clubhouse was OK and lovely, friendly staff. However, a cheap place to play for locals, but don't travel to far to play it, you would be disappointed. We completed the Macmillan 72 hole challenge here yesterday . Staff were 100% brilliant in helping us achieve this from start to finish. Course is a steady challenge for all abilities, greens were in condition and tricky as the day went on . Good food and drink at the bar . Had a great day thanks again to all the awesome @ Kilton . I decided it was time to do a review for Kilton GC, mainly because of how mint the course is looking lately. The refurbed first hole OOB posts (which catch most of those who hook a ball out! I am a fader so the bunker is my nemesis), the nicely cut greens, the new bunker machines doing their work and new cups in the holes etc. I have been to other “more expensive” courses (who will remain nameless but cost £1000 a year plus) and their and fairways have been disgraceful – IF they are even open on full greens! This course is one of the most playable courses in winter/bad weather and only gets more challenging in the summer when the rough grows up for that extra difficulty level! We are enjoying every round we have as relatively new members, plus they do the brekky of champions (£7.50 full English with hot drink and toast). Get on this course if you can, one of the best value in the area! Due to a hot summer ☀️ which as affected most golf course, t boxes 4 out of 10 needs some loving fairways same needs a lot of steady rain, some are a bit patchy and slow 🐌. will i play it again the answer is yes but after the dry weather Just a quick email to thank you and all the at Kilton Forest for looking after us all so well yesterday. From our first arrival, great bacon rolls & coffee, and a lunch, nothing seemed too much trouble and I'm sure all 23 of us enjoyed the day. - some enjoyed the golf more than others (that got lost in the rough) !! Perhaps the bunkers were a bit "solid" & need some sand but the are excellent & a lovely putting green area. All in all great value for the price. Again, many thanks and I'm sure yours is a course we will return to. Kind regards. Clive Wilkinson Captain Welton Sports & Social Club Golf Society (nr Lincoln) Please do not come here (if you want to save time and money). If your looking to play on fairways that feel like your on Mount Fuji feel free to book a tee time. The may as well have been the rough, the ashy volcanic surface makes playing here an unbearable, insanely bad experience. It is a joke. DO NOT COME LISTEN TO ME. Cracking course! The tees are a little ropey but the fairways and rough are and fair, running over undulating country side and edged by mature trees. are a little slow but are receptive, run true and are pretty consistent over the 18 holes. Hats off to the green for the bunkers, which are in great condition, have just the right amount of sand and are incredibly consistent over the the 18 holes (which is very rare, even on more expensive courses). Hats off to all the other players as well, who'd done a job raking the bunkers when they'd been in them. The holes are a length and present a variety of challenges. I paid £16, which is fantastic value - I'll definitely be back, particularly as it drains well during wet weather. The in the shop and bar / restaurant were also really friendly and helpful, with a bacon sandwich and cup of tea coming in at £5.50.
