We were blown into Village Inn on a very wet wild evening. A warm glow of the country inn greeted us, with its autumnal decoration. Friendly staff checked us in and we went to our rooms. Comfortable room, with tartan theme, clean bathroom, kettle, tea coffee and biscuit selection. Radiators were very very hot when turned on. We’d booked a table in the restaurant, which was full. A reasonably priced menu and good selection. We chose pork & marmalade sausage and mash, the steak and venison pie and lamb shank. All delicious, hot and tasty. We followed the mains with apple crumble and custard and the signature sticky toffee pudding ( lots of ginger!). They offer a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. The views from the pub across the road to Loch Long were stunning. Next morning we woke to the loch filled with mist, very atmospheric. A good selection of cereal, youghurt, fruit and toast for breakfast. Hot options are cooked fresh for guests. We chose small Scottish breakfasts, (bacon, Lorna sausage, black pudding, beans, egg, tomatoes mushroom and tattie) and egg Benedict. Hot delicious and filling to set us off on our next adventure. Good value for money for a lovely stay. We are staying for two nights. Room is very clean, comfortable and has everything we need. Just had an evening meal and it was delicious. Staff are very friendly and attentive. They made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend this place. Staying in the town for a couple of nights, we decided to eat here. The staff were super friendly and lamb shank was absolutely delicious. The meat fell of the bone easily and the mash was proper mash. What I was especially impressed with was the quality of the gravy - really rich and meaty - as so many places just have some kind of watery afterthought. Puddings were good too. Would definitely eat again here but sadly we're leaving tomorrow. A Couple miles set back from Loch Lomond set on the banks of a Loch itself. We found this venue most excellent, it has the most welcoming atmosphere, and fantastic cosy seasonal decor, we stated here on an October Monday night and it was very well frequented. The staff are fantastic and helpful, attentive and nothing seemed too much. The brwakfast and evening food we found of high quality yet very reasonable, the room was very clean, warm and well appointed, the one we had was ( rm2) looking over the loch - superb! This was October 2025. A Hidden Gem in Arrochar – Worth the Detour! While visiting Glasgow as German from Berlin, I decided to take a detour to Arrochar to experience a small Scottish village — and I’m so glad I did. The Village Inn is the heart of this charming place. It’s a small and cozy pub with a rustic atmosphere. The wooden floors creak in a comforting way, adding to its authentic charm. The menu is well-balanced: not too big, but still offering a nice variety of freshly prepared dishes. My meal was absolutely delicious — clearly cooked fresh and full of flavor. You order and pay at the bar, and things like cutlery or ketchup are self-service, but that didn’t bother me. It’s all part of the relaxed pub vibe. What really surprised me was how quickly the place filled up. For such a small village, it was buzzing — which speaks volumes about how much locals and visitors appreciate this spot. After just one visit, I can absolutely see why. My interaction with the staff was brief but warm and friendly. I felt genuinely welcome. This place is a must-visit for me on my next trip to Scotland. Highly recommended A wonderful and cozy place with a quiet yet homey vibe. Nice and helpful staff that felt like they were both lika small, misfit family and inviting hosts that made the extra effort. A diverse arrangement of meals that was still nicely pubish that keep you stuffed and satisfied. Your best friends are allowed which is always a plus. Great base camp for the various hikes.
