Great spot, active with locals and tourists. High tide was around 6pm to make a jump in. Just a freaking cool place to hang out and jump. Make sure it’s high tide tho! Very fun! Lots of food and activities nearby. Tide was out, so I couldn't jump, but did get in the water. Very cool experience, met some friendly people there as well. There are pay toilets and showers. There is a changing room, but it's not always open. Plenty of space to change outside with lots of pegs to hang clothes and towels. A nice spot to swim and jump/dive off the tower. Lots of swimmers year round. Nice spot to sit in the sun and out of the wind the day we visited. I didn’t jump in because I didn’t have a bra on and ireland isn’t the kind of europe where topless swimming is readily accepted. But it was cool to watch people go in, felt like I was joining in on the experience. The beach is very nice but you need to dive at specific times. There are rocks everywhere so you have to aim at a sandwich back, which makes this unsafe for inexperienced divers like me. However the place is beautiful. My all time favourite place to go for a walk, they have a walking lane with lights. You could hear the waves and feel the cold breeze ,it's peaceful and magical. Ireland is a beauty and you will be in love with the wild Atlantic ocean. I went on a spontaneous camping trip to Galway City and then to Salthill. We arrived late at night due to delayed transportation. We were disappointed to find that we couldn’t secure a campsite, which left us both feeling distressed.
