A great day ay Pearse Stadium with the new grandstand and a vocal cowd who cheered home the locals to a solid victory over Wexford 1-29 to 2 -16. Far too many mistakes from Wexford and the better team won on the day. This was our 1st visit to the park in 2 years and we were very impressed with the improvements to the seating and ground capacity which was nowhere near full on the day.. The home of GAA in Co Galway, this is a terrific ground with terracing on three sides. Facilities are poor and, as Galway is a big GAA county, there is a big need for an upgrade. But the place does have a great atmosphere which is why you'd be coming here in the first place. I'm here for the Dublin match later but I've attached a few photos and a short video of Galway v Limerick in hurling. A fine stadium. Just a pity that the children can't view the game on a busy game day from the terrace as their view is generally obstructed by taller people. Also then when they go down to the fence, that's too tough for them to look out over it. GAA grounds located in Salthill next to Galway City. Very popular venue for Gaelic football and hurling. Also used for music concerts. Fantastic pitch, well worth going to. Decent facilities, plenty of food stands. Nice stroll from the prom too. This is the home of Galway Hurling & Football. A basic but nice stadium with a capacity of circa 26000. Fabulous on a sunny day but be sure to bring a coat/jacket if it is not summer conditions. Because even if fine it gets quite cold there. 1 covered stand with good seating but be there early as this fills up first. Plenty of basic toilet facilities . Usually a burger van (Super Macs )and a few tea/coffee and sweet stands. Biggest issue for this stadium is if driving there is no adequate parking and traffic is generally very bad in the area when going to and leaving. Salerno School sometimes open for parking but if they don't it's street parking. Busses from Galway centre to Salt Hill readily available and short walk to stadium.
