Burg Salzburg

Bad Neustadt an der Saale, Germany Historical landmark

We just wanted to go upstairs.. roam around.. no need for museum etc especially with a baby! There is no other price module available.. a pity. Overall nice view over the city! Do NOT drive or park a rental vehicle in Salzburg. The city will track down any rental car and hit you with a €355 fine for 'inappropriate parking behavior'. Total scam against tourists. I paid for my parking, got the receipt. They don't care. I got mine 14 months after I visited. I will never return. Interesting ruin, but access is limited so does not take long to explore. A nation that its well known for its many grand castles and palaces. It never ceases to amaze me whenever I get the opportunity to visit them. Gazing up at the majestic walls, I cannot help but wonder in awe what was it like "Once Upon a Time...." We took a leisurely stroll through a forest path after visiting a friend at the nearby RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt. Large parts of the entire castle have been preserved to this day and some are still inhabited, do heed the Private Property signage. There is a modern chapel of St. Bonifatius in the castle ground. A wonderful Italian restaurant with lovely alfresco seating when feeling peckish after. Fortification with a rich history. Especially the bishop's chapel name after Saint Bonifatius is worth a visit. Pity that the only place for some food in the fortress was closed even though the signs said that it should have been open. Great food. Great atmosphere. There is a restaurant on the inside and people live there as well so there is only a very small portion of the burg that you can actually visit, unless you want to walk all the way around it and view it from the outside. Through vrbo- My kid and I booked a stay at the Salzburg. I didn't realize how much of the guest house would be ours for the night! It was such an incredible experience! Karl gave us a tour throughout most of the castle and talked about the family history! He answered all of our questions and made the trip so memorable!
