Lovely staff . I found it very interesting. A truly exceptional museum with excellent working displays of a huge range of textile machinery, material and methods. It's all a bit ad-hoc in places and there's a lot of equipment and space not fully installed or displayed but the enthusiasm and expertise of the staff more than makes up for any deficiencies. We spent two hours here, and didn't notice the time go by. Particularly interesting place for those who know the area as the museum shows how the cloth industry was an integral part of the local economy. Really good video on comb-making (yes, really!), and the working demonstrations of all the old spinning and weaving machines were fascinating. There is a lot to read as well (in French), and we did the tour in French. The team who run the place were really friendly, and there is a small gift shop selling some high quality products. Lots of textiles and old machinery. No information in English and no guided tour in English Very rare collection of historical textile machinery, good storytelling and insight. We had a wonderful tour of the museum in English. There's an extensive range of machinery, some of which we got to see working. Look out for the beautiful big Jacquard Loom...incredible. The staff are so passionate and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend a visit, but it's necessary to book the guided tour in advance. Leave time to look around the shop to buy some beautiful locally made items. A BIG thank you to the staff 🙂 We were a group of six visiting from Leicester during a week day and were greeted really warmly. They took their time to tell us how best to navigate the museum and some interesting facts about the textile history in the area. The museum has many machines and a few interesting videos which you can take you time in looking at and we had the pleasure of having a talk at the end of our tour given by Daniel who was a pleasure to meet and told us such interesting stories from his own experience as well as showing us a working machine with over 1000 needles. It was a pleasure and very enjoyable for those who want to know more about the fabric history of the area. The staff/volunteers here are so welcoming and enthusiastic. A trip back into local and industrial history. The gift shop also has local produce and fabric made by the running machines. Very intersting I have to say David Bell was unfortunate. We were the only visitors the day we arrived. We had a personal guide, partly in English. Wonderful place, with fantastic historic machinery.
