We went here as our daughter is vegetarian and they have a vegetarian menu, so plus points for that. There were 3 amuse bouche served, the beetroot gazpacho had good flavour but not the others. Victoria on the vegetarian menu and me by choice had an aubergine and chevre dish which was very bland. The others had octopus that they liked. They also liked their gilt head bream for the main. My pigeon was nicely done and tasty though the sauce was a bit gloopy. Pudding was either vegetarian or non vegetarian lemon meringue which they liked. I had cheese, the blues were nice, but the others bland again. Nice 2014 local Syrah. Thought it was pricey at €161. Style over substance? Such a gem here. Amazing garden. Le Clos Saint Martin - La Métairie in Arvigna is an absolute gem of a restaurant. I started with a squash and gingerbread soup that was so smooth and creamy, it was like eating a cloud. Main course was beef cheek confit in red wine and herbs, which was incredibly tender and flavourful. The sauce was so good I wanted to lick the plate clean but instead settled for mopping up with a fresh bread roll. The dessert was a divine lemon mousse that was light and airy, and the perfect ending to a truly amazing and very reasonably priced meal. Post-covid there are a number of new restaurants that are upping the standard, and this is consistently excellent. The menu may not change, but what arrives is different each time, so you can choose the same dish and you will receive something completely different each time. We went here for my son's 23rd birthday, we have a house in Arvigna. We couldn't fault it: friendly atmosphere, great service and fabulous food. The food is exquisite - artfully prepared, smartly presented, paired with excellent wines and served with a smile.
