Grand Verdun Tourist Office

Verdun, France Tourist information center

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Full of useful information and as you would expect and the assistant spoke very good English. Usual tourist office but not a whole lot in English so make sure you take a phrase book and dictionary. Lots of leaflets and information. We went there to hire a couple of electric bicycles...be aware!...they require an €850 deposit!! Just use Google .... Unfriendly and actually looked annoyed... We came in and had an afternoon in verdun. Well she said you need 2-3 days dor the city and 2-3 days for the military sites. So we asked for a city tour in the afternoon. She gave us 3 places to look at. Great.... We strolled around on our own after that. Disappointed. Staff was not enthusiastic, did not give clear information and was seemingly completely uninformed of the carnaval, the current event ongoing in the city. They did not suggest to wait 20 more minutes near the tourist office as then some of the carnaval event would take place right in front of it! We had to ask ourselves to find out. We then later discovered the bridge to cross the water in front of the tourist office was closed off and they could not provide any useful information as to which would be the next best crossing, only speculating whether that one would be closed off as well. We asked if there were any good restaurants at this side of the water instead and the only recommendation they could come up with was the brasserie across the street that wouldn't open for another hour. They also did not allow a pregnant lady to use their restrooms. Overall their service could not have been worse unless they actively tried to harm or annoy us. Do yourself a favor and use google or a book instead of wasting your time here. Very helpful staff! We rented bikes and biked to the various WWI sites, which was a great way to experience the area around Verdun. Excellent service! We got all our questions answered, got plenty of tips. At the end, we renew bikes to visit memorial of battlefield. and forests nearby. Rented bikes for decent prices were in the perfect conditions, including locks, helmets. You don't have any way to travel from Verdun to Verdun Battle memorial. Don't have a bus, your bycicles are to few or the person who have them on duty is on holiday and you recomend taxi. How can i keep a taxi all day after me to visit Memorial, Ossuare, Forts, etc?! Probably taxis are a dirty business of someone since is the only option. So i have to go by foot 16km. Misserable organisation you have. Zero stars you deserve or -5. Maybe you will build some fountains for people to drink water, or put some bins near roads to throw a empty bottle there and not in the forrest. P.S How to visit champs de bataille in a taxi?!! Service minded and informative. Rents out electrical bikes witch is perfect to use when you travel through the rolling landscape in Meuse to visit the monuments of WW1. Helpful and friendly English-speaking staff. Very kind and helpful (and multilingual)! I would like to thank Stephanie for helping me arrange a taxi to and from the battlefield - merci!
