l'Ouvrage de la Falouse (Falouse Fort)

Verdun, France Historical landmark

One of the Best Places To Visits in Billemont Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. This place gives a good example of how the area was used and fought over in ww1. The underground has been set out really well to give an idea of the living conditions and the surrounding trenches set out well with notice boards for info. Very good The place is beautiful, its the real one and the sound , cold make it to real. It was an incredible experience This place is the most impressive I have ever seen about the WW1. Privately organized without state support 5 friends have recreated an image that is true to the original in this with sounds and voices from the tape and live demonstrations in the camp outside about the life of the soldiers in a fort. An incredible display and use of the fort. I particularly loved the use of the soundscapes, I think this could be also very well used outside in the trench system (sweeping MG fire and artillery sounds etc.) This is a great supplement to any visit to Verdun if you truly want a great look at the furnishings of one of these rear echelon areas. Absolutely brilliant gem of a fort! The volunteers that have renovated and run the place have really put so much effort into this site. It was €5.50 per adult and there is a discount for families. The inside has been renovated and the rooms have been set up to demonstrate the conditions during WWI. There is so much to see and gives a good insite into life in the fort. During the autumn it is only open in the morning until 11:30am but the volunteer was very gracious and said we could stay until 12pm so we could have a proper visit. I would definitely recommend a visit here! Practical info: Parking in a small car park directly at the site. There is a toilet. Take appropriate footwear as there are outside spaces to explore and the can be a bit wet in places. good! ...gives you a good impression of the live behind front lines! ...nicely done. some of the puppets seem pretty real. spend an hour in total ... although the big (just forgot the name duv...) close to verdun is better. or spend the money on petrol an go to 'le mains de messiges'! ...free entry and very very impressive! A must visit for history and bunker lovers. It is really well done and maintained. Very realistic props and sound effects, right down to the pigeons in the radio room!. An excellent trip out. 👌 Fantastic place to visit.
