Only negative is the parking is tight to get in and out of due to bushes also curtains very thin in lodge we stayed in so let's alot of light in 1st thing of a morning so awake super early so maybe needs thicker curtains or look into blinds. Only tiny negatives all other things here are great Lovely relaxing, clean cosy place ,staff are amazing. The village is lovely and so are the local people also the scenery outstanding, best holiday ever x Disappointing Stay at Marconi Lodge – Not as Advertised We booked Marconi Lodge at Mullion Cove Retreat expecting a high-tech, luxury experience as described. Unfortunately, it delivered neither. There was no smart technology—no Bluetooth or streaming capabilities on the TV, which meant we couldn’t play music while cooking or enjoy a cosy evening in. Given the remote location, mobile signal is understandably poor, but that makes it even more important for the lodge to offer reliable tech. It simply didn’t. The lodge itself felt tired and in need of refurbishment. The carpet was stained, the wooden flooring was rough underfoot, and the sofa had an unpleasant smell. For the price, we expected far better. Basic amenities were lacking: no recycling facilities, no coffee machine or cafetière, and the fridge was far too small for a group of six—especially as we enjoy cooking together. It didn’t feel thoughtfully equipped for families or groups. Cleanliness was also disappointing. I had to clean the bath myself due to a visible scum mark around the edge, which shouldn’t happen in a property marketed as luxury. The hot tub was a particular letdown. Each time we tried to use it, there was a layer of brown, foamy scum on the surface. Despite claims of daily checks, it was never resolved during our stay, which made it unpleasant and unusable. While the surrounding area is undeniably beautiful, we wouldn’t recommend Marconi Lodge based on our experience. It fell far short of its advertised standards and needs serious attention to justify the cost. Location is perfect and one of very few nice places to stay with no shop or clubhouse on site - perfect. There are two local pubs just up the road both doing good food and shops for anything you need in the same village. The lodges are very well maintained and the site well looked after. The harbour with a small cafe is a 3 minute stroll away and the coast path at the same location if you feel that way inclined. Could have a controller on the hot tub as it was a bit too warm for us on hot days. Great holiday location and quality lodges. Another great stay at Mullion Cove Lodge good as usual. But no duck this time. Told it was to save plastic, have they not heard about recycled plastic. Cheap money saving stunt, bring back the ducks.
