One of the Best Places To Visits in Cangas de Onís The Sanctuary of Covadonga is a worthwhile visit for its stunning scenery and spiritual significance. Parking is limited, especially during high season; consider using the bus service from the parking areas in the valley below. There is a hotel, cafeteria, restaurant, souvenir shops, and public toilets on-site. The sanctuary can be crowded, especially during Mass. You can walk from the parking lots in the valley below in Covadonga, however there is no pavement for pedestrians. There is a hiking path but it goes in and out of the main road. The other option is to take the bus. €9 round trip from the parking areas 1-2-3-4. Lovely views from the sanctuary and Basilica. The sanctuary was crowded with a queue to access it but interesting to see. Not exactly a peaceful experience and must be much worse in the summer season. Lots of toilets around and the hotel on site has a cafeteria and a lovely restaurant. You can park on the way out of season if you are lucky with spaces or stop on the way and take a bus up which would be very necessary in high season. Beautiful place to in Asturias. It feels like a place to for ten minutes to check off a list of been there and done that than some place special. Amazing views though and stroller accessible with well signed public Toilets. We went here on a pilgrimage exactly a year ago today and it was fantastic such a beautiful place it motivates one to prayer!
