The base does not seem to be as active as it use to be years ago. But none of the less still a nice place to visit. Interesting but not much going on when we went. Only saw one helicopter. Love the chance to be able to sit and watch. I am sure there are days when it's very busy, just luck of the draw! Brilliant place to watch the hawks and merlins taking off and landing. Kids really enjoyed going. Ice cream van was a welcome treat but could do with more there toilets closed off so make sure you go beforehand, need to take your own food and drinks as nothing nearby We had a nice little quiet getaway here. Seen a few things happening just a pity the Café has gone. But I'd love too come back here in the Summer with a packed launch and watch all that goes on. Plenty of parking space and Wheelchair and Pram Friendly. 👍 Loved this place better when it had a cafe and tourist shop with forces memorabilia and trinkets, it also used to do tours too. Sadly it's only a viewing point. You definitely have to stop a short while though to make sure you catch some activity. But well worth it when you do see the jets as well as the usual helicopters. Although dont do what I did and snap a selfie instead of the jets. I did get some other pics though lol 😉 Got lots of memories coming here as a child, having tours around the airbase, sitting at the cafe, watching the aircraft. Unfortunately, there is none of that anymore. I returned with my wife who has never seen Culdrose or Cornwall as she isn't from the UK to show her my childhood places I visited, to which this one was a disappointment. The toilets were not in operation, no cafe now either. I can't make a comment on operational aircraft, we could see some around through our binoculars but obviously it's just luck if you see aircraft. Maybe it's better in summer time.
