Always happy to visit, each year when visiting Pärnu it’s the one to go. It’s also possible to buy from the selection of exhibits but you need to be fast to get better selection. Very often there are multiple exhibitions at the same time. I'm not saying that I hate all the art that is exhibited, but the quality of the collection does not merit 9€ entrance. For a few euro more, you can get into the national art in Tallinn or to the national museums in Latvia and Lithuania. Unless you really don't care about money at all, skip this one. Nice place, interesting art. Would recommend. The new location in the very center of Pärnu is excellent, and so are this little museum's temporary exhibitions. I enjoy a visit almost every time I'm in town, and suggest you try it out, too. I't not expensive, either, and so visitor friendly in all aspects. Great art, but not a big museum. Waited for the right day and time to visit, only to come and find the place closed. Found out through another organisation that the reason was a changing of exhibitions. This could and should have been communicated online, but nothing was said. Very poor way to treat potential visitors. Not many things to see. 30mn to 1 hour required. For the small it is super well curated. Many museums in Estonia used to just be dusty rooms with someone's old crap on display and old ladies guarding the coats. Sadly, the downstairs at this is still that way. I went to the "Metslased" exhibit, because I'm a major fan of Kaupo Kikkas's photography. But this "gallery" turned out to be just an old bank which has never been renovated--security cameras still hang above the filthy, worn carpeting where the tellers stood. The lighting has never been updated, which hardly matters since the staff did not turn on the lights even after we asked. The art is poorly displayed and difficult to see in the cave-like darkness of this, um, gallery. Kikkas' photos are great as expected, but the others on display, while they may have historic value in cataloguing trees, are not worthy of an art gallery. Their reproduction quality is poor and they are cheaply mounted on foamcore and stuck to the wall with nails. Things used to be cheap in Estonia, and so it wasn't a big deal if you paid for something and were disappointed. But things have changed now. They should pay you to visit this gallery, not the other way around. What can I say that's nice? The lady selling tickets was nice, but the downstairs is a ripoff that the City of Pärnu ought to shutter. Rather overpriced admission (9 euros) for a that took me literally 10 minutes to look around, and I was having a proper look at the exhibits. The staff were unfriendly and all looked like they would much prefer to be somewhere else. When my family and I were trying to enter the museum, the lady at the ticket booth was so rude. She was snappy and it almost seemed like she did not want us to go yo the museum. She was not believing my family qualified for a family ticket and asked for my grandmother ( 76 years old) proof of being a pensioner. All of this was such a negative experience, that we ended up not going to the at all.
