Our annual ski vacation accidently fell on the same dates as the French winter vacation, we booked this place in advance but were unable to book ski lessons for the kids as the ski school does not pick up the phones or replies to e-mails. The rooms are small and ill equiped, the reception is hostile and impolite, don't forget to bring toilet paper and soap, edible restaurants are several minutes drive away so always come with a car The ski lanes are very limited so you have to drive to Chamonix or take a train that comes every hour The pool is nice For us it's a definite pass, but it is a cheaper version for a ski vacation The hotel is located in a perfect location close to the Swiss and Italian border and Chamonix. Excellent pool, very close to the ski station and train. The hotel staff was kind and helpful. An overall good experience while skiing for the week in Vallorcine and Chamonix. The was well equipped and comfortable, although could be a little cleaner. Plenty of towels and spare pillows provided. Cute little outdoor area with table and chairs. Indoor dining table, sofa, TV etc was provided. Lovely view of the mountains and a river flowing nearby that created a very calming atmosphere. The pool and spa areas were great, really clean and enjoyable to use. I didn’t get around to using the gym, although small it was well equipped and even had a half climbing wall, ideal for children. There is a small ice rink outside along with an outdoor bar/cafe. The is a 3 minute walk to the gondola, so it was incredibly easy walking over there with all our ski stuff. It’s also very close to the train station and I think you could easily get a bus too. We skied one day in Vallorcine, one day in Argentierre and one in Chamonix. Easy enough to get the train there and didn’t take too much time. Trains run every half hour and travel is free between certain towns if you have booked skiing. Although not necessarily a bad thing directed at Happy Rentals apartments, there are no food stores in Vallorcine that I could find. I had to get on the train to a neighbouring town 20 minutes away to pick up groceries. This would be helpful to know when booking online. The photos show coffee is provided, however there was no coffee in our kitchen. I would have thought there would be the basics like salt, pepper, cooking oil but there wasn’t. No biggie, just good to know for next time. The biggest downfall we had was on arrival there was no one on reception, so we were locked out of the entire building. We had to phone Heidi (the booking provider) to enable us access and give us the code to get into the building and our apartment’s key safe. There was also no information on wifi, so again we had to contact Heidi for the password. Pleased with our stay and good value for money. Horrible experience!! Don't book with them.... We booked a flat through booking.com for five people, paid €500, but unfortunately 3 of us fell sick with the flu ( grippe A) and couldn't travel, so we wrote to the office 72 hrs before our booking dates to explain our situation....they refused to change the dates, or even to apply a penalty, saying basically ' tough luck' if you don''t come, you lose your money💰💱💲💲!! Never seen such greedy, non comprehensive people, they don't care about their clients!! Spent one night only (Saturday/Sunday). Nice resort, excellent service, excellent products available on the spot from the grocery. Room nicely and conveniently fitted, clean. Beds are comfy. Nicely situated with possibility to go to Chamonix or start but also to start excursions right from Vallorcine. Nice restaurants nearby. Monic on reception so helpful. Delighted with which is spacious, comfortable and traditional French style. Amazing views and away from busy tourist area. Will visit again.love hearing the birds and rushing river water. Perfect for families. We stayed 1 night. The (1 bedroom) was good for 4 persons (3 adults and 1 child) clean and contains everything you need for self catering apartment. The spa (pool and sauna) was a great extra. The lady at reception was very kind and helpful for my questions about the area. Overall, we enjoyed and recommend.
