Awesome to swim to the cave. The surface is not comfy. Free parking nearby! Wow! What a remarkable place. Super clear water! You can snorkel and see everything from above, I think the bottom was more than 10 m deep. Lots of fish. The is all rocky, but you dont need to stay there much. Just go into the water and enjoy. It is amazing to swim below the bridge. We had never seen a like this. Parking might be difficult on the main road. Try to go early. If not, there is a parking up inland, and then there is an easy path to go down to the beach. It takes around 10-15 minutes to go down to the beach. This place is absolutely beautiful. Get here early because there is limited parking. Definitely worth the drive from Otranto or other nearby towns. They have stairs that take you down to a swimming area. A lot of people swim under the bridge or jump into the water from one of the smaller cliffs below. Very peaceful and serene. An amazing little cove, beautiful clear water, great place for a swim, with beautiful views. Some crazy people kept us entertained by jumping off ridiculously high rocks. Water was so blue it doesn’t seem real. What a wonderful beach. Was easy to find parking on the side of the road and walkway to was fine. Water was colder in the cove under the bridge but warmed up when you go out further. Food at the restaurant was good but a bit pricey compared to similar restaurants One of my bucket-list Salento destinations finally ticked!! Located outside the centre of Gagliano del Capo are these absolutely stunning magnificent little inlets coves and grottos. The soothing restorative blue waters of Ciolo awaits sun-baked skins. Ciolo is also rich in marine life. It's a perfect stopover for tourists divers and swimmers visiting Santa Maria di Leuca or the Ionian coastline. We spent an hour or so exploring the town of Gagliano del Capo before stumbling on a beautiful serene sanctuary, off the beaten track, nestled amongst olive and fig trees. From here, you can view the surrounding rugged landscapes, ancient paths and hillside trails perfect for hikers. We found the area around the bridge busy and parking limited. We urge the Commune of Gagliano del Capo to consider safety measures for prohibiting divers leaping off imposing outcrops into the sea of crowded swimmers. This place looks awesome, the "hike" until it is really beautiful. Maybe it helps if you have some good shoes/sandals for it. Unfortunately we could see it only from the top, because they are working at the bridge, and the acces is forbidden.
