In those times, control over waterways and key geographical points was vitally important. Connection with Titignano: * La Roccaccia is closely linked to the history of the nearby Titignano Castle. It was likely part of the defensive structures controlled by the castle's owners. * Titignano itself has ancient roots, and its history is intertwined with influential Umbrian families. Decline and Abandonment: * Over time, with changes in military technology and the political landscape, the strategic importance of the watchtower diminished. * Like many similar structures, La Roccaccia gradually fell into disrepair. Modern Times: * Despite this, the tower has survived to this day as a historical landmark. * Thanks to its scenic location with breathtaking views, La Roccaccia has become a popular destination for hiking. It is not possible to get there by car, despite the fact that google leads you there. You have to park in the small village nearby and go on foot 5km Not crowded and beautiful Great hike Fascinating and peaceful place. Worth the walk until there. The view is amazing!
