Absolutely fantastic. Its simplicity is its charm, all the team are knowledgeable and they pass the knowledge with pleasure. The are great some of them are crowd pleasers and love to swoop close to your head all very fun. My wife and I thought the Huntly Falconry Centre had one of the best of prey flying displays we had ever seen, and we have seen a few over years. John, the display falconer on the day we were there, was not only a expert falconer, but one of the nicest most caring of people we have witnessed working in animal care and presentation in the public sector. He really loved and cared for the and they in turn responded to him. The falconry centre is set in the bowl of surrounding hills near to Huntly in Aberdeenshire, a truly loverly setting to watch these bird display not only their flight skills but to witness their intelligence and grace. There is a nice little souvenir and tea shop on site and various other attractions. Well worth a detour!. Dont cater for the disabled sadly in ticket prices. Unfortunately our entrance experience was not so nice as im registered disabled we asked if there was a carer ticket as my partner is registered we were initially said a concession ticket could be done and when the card machine didnt work, I believe the owner (john) came we then paid cash £30 we were led down the path and he chased over to us to say it was £33 where I said that he was my carer and I have the relevant documents if needed to have him say we are self funded which i get ofc. We missed part of the display due to this commotion and half quite a few of the had been taken out of the enclosures to go flying elsewhere when we walked about so sadly we spent maybe 45min there as wasnt alot to see sadly. I will say the intial till lady was happy and polite and the guy doing the display was very happy and polite and very informative!!! We didnt bother with the cafe or shop as we felt quite unwelcome and the owner was storming around the area quite angry and silent. We had such an unbelievable experience yesterday at Huntly Falconry Centre. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Being in such close proximity with of prey and learning about them was amazing. We also got to feed the deers, all in all it was such an amazing day. This is our second visit and both have been excellent. It's a very laid back venue, with the staff being friendly and knowledgeable. They're keen to talk to you and answer questions and encourage you to hold and interact with the birds. Once you've paid the entry you can stay all day and catch every show if you like, which are well worth seeing. Each show has three and they last almost an hour each! They have question and answer sessions and you get the opportunity to fly the yourself with small children encouraged to join in. Great value for money! Also for added value, there appears to be a resident family of red deer living in the nearby woods. On both our visits the deer have wandered onto the field with us. The first time they interrupted the flying to demand food and the centre had to bring out buckets for them. Despite being wild deer they're clearly very comfortable with humans and will eat out of your hand. The centre also has a small gift shop and cafe, albeit these are both quite basic. Overall, very much worth the visit. We booked John to come along to our wedding with a couple of his at Aswanley and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Me, my Wife and our guests thoroughly enjoyed getting to hold, pet and learn about the him and his team brought along, and for the rest of the day we had people coming up to us saying how friendly and informative they were and what a great experience it was. We’ll hopefully make it out to the Falconry Centre itself soon to see the rest of their flock! An awsome day out , very interactive with everyone getting a chance to hold of prey and have them flying in from distance to the gauntlet on your hand , the cafe is beautiful with amazing decor and the prices are very reasonable the cakes are gorgeous also plenty of souveniers at low prices , but most of all the staff are extremely friendly with adults and bairns (kids) . Had a fantastic day at the centre 26/6/25. The staff were brilliant and full of information about each bird. Such a good way to spend a couple of hours, and to top it off we also had a close up with the deer. Highly recommend.
