Used to come here every year whilst on holiday, first time in the area for a while so we had to come and revisit Squires. Pleased to say we weren't disappointed, welcome on arrival. Didnt have to wait long before our waitress took our order, drinks arrived quickly and didnt wait very long for our food. size freshly portions , I had Haddock & & my wife had Cod & We shared a portion of onion rings. It was a meal. Glad we came back. A bit hit & miss with the service, nice staff but little effort or care given for wastage or customer care, their mission was to catch up on chat out the back. Card reader failed but no particular effort to fix it or find alternative. Large portions and fair range to choose from though and as order placed. Parking near. Very disappointing. Read the reviews while sitting at the table and wish we had walked out straight away. were a mix of fresh and recooked so some where really crispy and some were ok. 6 of us ate and only my meal was acceptable. All tables needed a clean Staff were pleasant so no fault there. Will next time trust Google reviews no matter how embarrassing it could be walking out . Would I go there again? Definitely NOT unless they change. Lovely and very busy, dog , we went straight in but there was a queue when we came out Nice place food service. Chairs could do with a few repairs or just replace them all told great piece of fish. Worth a visit thankyou. Second visit, disappointing compared to the first. Restaurant not as clean and some flies about ..... Food - massive portions (and we eat a lot!) Steamed cod was great for a healthy alternative. Service .... no smile. Staff not or happy to be there. Overall OK, but not the best around and we won't be back Try .... Simply brixham Rockfish I recommend the platter for 2 as value for money, even though there's been massive price increases. Scampi, scallops, cod, haddock and cider roe. Really enjoyed the Cod and the batter, which were very tasty indeed. 10 out of 10. Sadly dissapointed with the which were overly firm; I suspect it was the variety of patato which seemed to be 'chewey' and pretty tasteless. Maybe they just don't flash well? And, sadly, the curry sauce was lacking in flavour and too wet (it made the paper so soggy it ripped - yes even the multiple layers. We have kept re-trying this place overall the last 9 years, as it has such a reputation, but it never seems to get it completely right. I would still recommend it, but I suppose it's just a bit of a gamble. Sorry guys, you are and efficient, your premises are neat and tidy; but I just don't think we are 'simpatico', as the Spanish would say. Never had a bad meal here yet - and we have been coming here on and off for many years now. There is always a warm service backed up with the tastiest cod and chips. choice of other dishes are available and the establishment also has a take away service too. Although we tend to dine in. Most amazing fresh fish! Well done 👍 Great and chips, crispy batter and white fluffy cod. The tinned roe was doubled up ( 2 slices instead of 1 ) at no extra cost. Lovely smiling lady serving. The waitress that attended to us was polite and served us quickly.. my partner had a prawn cocktail that was a size and tasted great, me and my daughter had cod and chips.. the was very quality, very flaky and a size. and sides were also fine. Would recommend and can't fault the place After a busy day out we decided to get and for tea. We didn't really know where to go. We are so happy we found Squires. It has a lovely large seating area but we wanted to go back to our Holiday Park so we got takeaway. It was absolutely delicious. The was fresh, no soggy batter or greasy chips. Just delicious. Excellent service too. Would definitely go back there. Sorry but used to be lovely. weren't properly still raw in the middle. Cod was disgusting not properly was black inside!! Batter was soggy - basically a waste of £25 Probably the worst and we've ever had. Batter was a wierd colour and stodgy, sausages were full of gristle and the pea fritter was unidentifiable. Chips looked and tasted like yesterday's Chips. We threw away more than we ate. Takeaway was great as always and staff super helpful and friendly. After reading latest mixed reviews about squires we were a bit apprehensive about going again after being 2 years since we last visited. So glad we ignored the negative ones. As always the food was delicious, girl serving was very pleasant and food was fresh while we waited. Portion sizes were great as well. It would take too long to explain my experience but I left feeling intimidated and embarrassed with a tray of cold hard chips. The situation was extremely badly managed and I would not advise anyone to go there. I would like to speak to the owner but I doubt this will happen. On holiday. Just called in for and chips. Service was fast. was hot and chunky but tasteless. The were same- bland with some undercooked. Both my husband and myself left most of the chips. They went in the bi. Waste of money. Absolutely the worst and I’ve experienced , very soggy battered fell apart when serving from the takeaway side, some landing on the floor but still served it anyway , I think there would have been more in a tin of tuna!!!!! And well could have quite easily made them into mash.
