For a few Euro you can take a self guided tour of most of the place. The local organization has done a very good job restoring several room. This has to be the quaintest, cutest I’ve ever visited. I came here with two of my daughters ages 5 and 3 years with VERY limited time (30 minutes) due to having tours at the nearby mines and having left the house on preschooler time. I had read conflicting reviews about parking near the but found a small nearby lot on Google maps and parked there, about 2 minutes walk from the castle. Once up close I saw I could definitely have parked closer, but the short walk was nice anyway. There was a good amount of construction going on to the exterior which made photo taking less than ideal but obviously we are thankful for the work they were doing! We walked around outside for a few minutes enjoying the amazing view of Schloss Bosselstein and the valley then went through the gate. First you walk through the outdoor courtyard which has very patio seating with a great atmosphere and view. I wish we could have sat and relaxed for a few minutes there, it was so peaceful! Then we went into the interior of the castle. We were met by a very kind, warm woman who spoke great English and assured me we could see the whole in our time constraints. She gave me my ticket (I was 3 euro, my kids were free) and a piece of paper that explained the Rooms in English and off we went. I would guess there are about 10 rooms total but they are all in great repair (I assume reconstructed) and beautifully decorated. I could have lingered at least an hour overall but we just barely saw the whole in the time we had. The bathrooms were clean. Overall this was a fantastic little to visit, and I can’t wait to come back! Has potential, very rough at the moment, but will be awesome when it's finished. I bought a very special drink from that I really recommend. It's not a big luxurious like some of the other ones you see but it's worth a visit. The tail leading to the Ruin is a beautiful trail. History: Oberstein was first mentioned around 1330, before flourishing in the 15th century and then burning down completely in 1855, after which it was partially rebuilt in 1980 thanks to the efforts of the Association “Burgenverein Schloss Oberstein”. Fortress Bosselstein, built in 1150, was inhabited by the noblemen of Stein up until 1600. It subsequently fell into ruin, and today there are just a few walls and tower stump to be seen. When looking out from Fortress Bosselstein, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Oberstein. It’s just a four minute walk from Oberstein, which is well worth it!
