From the outside it looks good but it was closed. The Château AND arboretum are only open 1400 to 1600, the admission price is €5 for adults with some reductions for children. This was on a list of places to visit, so as we were passing by we thought we would take a look. We were surprised to find the village heaving with people, and car park attendants routing us to playing fields to park. It was a special day, they were having a Medieval fare with jousting, the French against the British. Even managed to down a French-made IPA beer. Strong and quite tasty. If there had not been the jousting, then there probably was not much to have seen. Yes there is the Arboretum with lots of trees. The castle is rather on the small side, though nice moat. Very relaxing location late on a Sunday PM. Staff very polite, amenities good and attractions multiple. Recommended to all. Plan to visit here after the Normandy memorial. You will need the peace, quiet and tranquility of this place after the reminder of so much death and destruction. You walk amongst unusual trees from all over the world. We had a tour guide who was very knowledgeable. It was lovely. Need a peaceful wall among the trees? We toured here through an organized ship tour, and it was beautiful. Very glad we got to see this. Spent a lovely time here. The chateau was not accessible due to ongoing work, but I knew about this before visiting. The outside of the chateau was interesting in its own way. The arboretum was lovely. There are some wonderful trees here. The guide leaflet identifies several highlights to look for and gives a guide to the whole site. Lovely grounds with lots of outdoor puzzles for kids and kept my 3 year old entertained. We used this as a stopping point driving down through France and it worked well for this. The castle itself is somewhat small so best for sunny days. Lovely place. The castle gets better and better every time I pay it a visit. The arboretum is huge. Beautiful trees and shubs. The Chateau is currently under construction which was disappointing because thats why we went. I showed up early and was greeted warmly but wasn’t told that only the arboretum was open. We meandered around the area for 2 hours only to return to find that out. Bummer.
