I came here today with my three ages 6, 4, and 2. I pushed the younger two in the double BOB stroller and my 6 year old walked, after having parked on Frankenburgstrasse, about 1.1km away from the shower. I had considered parking at Parkplatz Lindenallee, which looked like it might be a very sunny walk of 1.5km, or Wanderparkplatz Frankweiler, which was 1.8km, but found street parking and went with it; it was quite close to the trail entrance. I used Google Maps to direct me to the shower, but there were a few subtle signs pointing us in the right direction as well. We entered the trails at the end of Steigerter Hof, and shortly thereafter I think they would merge with the trails coming from the Lindenallee paths. It then brings you past a corporate office in a beautiful old building and a horse pasture. There are a few benches and a run-down picnic table along the way. There is one segment of the path that is quite uphill, but it was only a few minutes and was manageable pushing the two kids. After a total of about 15 minutes from street parking, we saw a wooden tepee and then the itself. It is a sandstone structure embedded into the earth, with three sections - the section, and then two adjacent sections which the resultant flowing water flows through. They are entered via either of two iron gates that let you down steps into the shower. Immediately surrounding the are some benches, the gazebo with attached changing room. The trail can be followed down along the stream towards the tepee made of sticks, which is actually where my spent most of our time (about 1 hour) today. The whole area is very well shaded, including the walk. I'm a stickler with sunscreen and felt confident enough not putting any on them for this excursion. It was about 3pm/15:00 and there was a CONSTANT flow of people. We were literally never the only ones here the entire time. I had brought some rubber duckies and swim suits for my kids, but most people just stripped down to their underwear or bare skin (kids mostly, except for one grown woman). The water was cold, but not terribly so, though I hadn't brought a swimsuit for myself and wasn't about to get in in my underclothes, and despite being in their swimsuits my actually decided not to get in the either. It's a great piece of history, as it's from the late 1840s when it was used by a doctor for medicinal purposes ("cold water application" must have been a treatment at the time). It apparently was forgotten, covered by a landslide, only to be rediscovered in 1990. It is a peaceful place, even with the constant flow of people, and I imagine would be beautiful in the early morning. Overall, it was a great trip with relatively easy access and great yield for my kids. Bring water, snacks, water toys if your want them, a stroller or baby carrier if needed, a swimsuit or change of clothes, and a towel, and you'll be good to go!
