We hiked steeply uphill from Barrial (near El Paso) but didn’t go any higher than El Rodeo below the summit of Bejenado - where we had a great view - as the summit above us was already in fog. From El Rodeo we walked along a spectacular trail to La Cumbrecita before hiking down from Cumbrecita to the Ermita (another wonderful trail) and getting a bus back to Los Llanos from the visitors’ centre. If you don't trekking routes often, it might defeat you. It doesn't require any special skills, that's true, but without good physical condition, it's not worth going there. According to the description, the trail should be compleated in 2.5 hours. I did it in 5 hours round trip, and I was close stay there forever. I would like to know that before going there.
