After the 1879 flood,the whole city was rebuilt,upon the orders of Emperor Franc Josef(Ferenc József),who also said the following words which entered in history:"Szeged szebb lesz,mint volt"(Szeged will be nicer than it was). The 1879 flood was a tragic one,but the city experienced a rebirth after the events,under the supervision of Architect Tisza Lajos,and the Emperor.Szeged really became a beautiful city. In thanks to the european cities which donated money to Szeged,the city's ring boulevards were named after them(Berlin,Paris,Rome,London,Vienna) Interesting form. It makes serious impressionin sunlight - especially in late afternoon. Good reason to take a walk along Cisa river. Nice! A nice place to relax in the evening after a walk. And the memorial is beautiful. Beautiful monument. The monument represents the great flood of Szeged. It's in a nice spot. While visiting the monument, we also had good time walking by to the river.
