Some of the loveliest views in the Lakes and very accessible, especially the Forestry Commission properties that have wide gravelled paths, cafes and family friendly activities. You can also see paddleboarders, those fishing or people out boating on the lake. Very quiet people wise too During a visit to Windermere we ventured out to Keswick for the market and then Bassenthwaite Lake. It's not busy like windermere. We parked in a parking bay off a winding road, over looking the through a wooded area. We took some steep rugged steps down to a walking/trekking trail through the woods until we saw an opening to the lake.
