Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve

Keswick, United Kingdom Nature preserve

One of the Best Places To Visits in Thornthwaite Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. One work "delicious" definately the best place to have breakfast, 8 have very serious food allergies and these are taken very seriously and catered for. We always go while in the lakes and definately would recommend, very friendly helpful staff and beautiful surroundings. Keep up the good work and we look forward to visiting again. The lower part of Bassenthwaite is readily accessible near Ouse Bridge with 2 car parks. I use it frequently to cold water dip several times a week. Thank you to the National Park, who own this area, for maintaining this area well. Lovely Lake, when weather is good perfect for picnic and paddleboarding One of my favourite areas of the Lakes, though it is nearby, so I may be biased. Tourist numbers are not overwhelming. Some of the loveliest views in the Lakes and very accessible, especially the Forestry Commission properties that have wide gravelled paths, cafes and family friendly activities. We LOVE Bassenthwaite, it's a great place to while away some time going for a walk along the shore of the or wild swimming. You can also see paddleboarders, those fishing or people out boating on the lake. Beautiful walk on the edge of the and beautiful views across the lake, easy to park in a couple of laybys by the gates. Very quiet people wise too During a visit to Windermere we ventured out to Keswick for the market and then Bassenthwaite Lake. It's not busy like windermere. We parked in a parking bay off a winding road, over looking the through a wooded area. We took some steep rugged steps down to a walking/trekking trail through the woods until we saw an opening to the lake. But WOW, the kake view was stunning with mountain back drops as can be seen in my picture. Excellent panoramic views, beautiful landscapes, lakes, and very relaxing.
