The personnel is very cool there, although the cakes weren’t fresh. It food what they offer in the caffe was really good, delicious and nice. It is literally by the river and has wheel outside, which is super unusual. Farm shop is great. Had WiFi where you do not need to know the password. What a Gem of a Cafe on the banks of the fast flowing Irt, crisp clear mountain water. Seating in and out with an assortment of food and beverages. Had a dark beer and a cold sausage roll(that I thought should have been heated up as it’s not a pork pie with gelatine) Dog friendly and in the Sun would have been really great. The shop was quite expensive and found the range could be expanded slightly to accommodate local lodgings. Needed some milk and the lady teller secured me some from behind the lines. Thanks 🙏 So pleased we managed to visit here prior to leaving the area. It is absolutely stunning, the photos do not do the setting justice at all! Food excellent, prices excellent and service also excellent. Perfect place to visit pre or post a hike. Looking forward to returning later in the season. The building is originally a sawmill with a river running under and around the building, and they still have an water wheel turning. The Herdy mac n cheese with local herdwick lamb and garlic bread was cooked until perfectly crispy and the tiffin cake with a coffee was great. Everything tasted fresh. The atmosphere is bright and the staff are friendly with fast service. Also has vegetarian and vegan options. Would come back again on my next visit to Wasdale. Always a favourite of ours in the Lakes. Very friendly staff, dog friendly and great selection of gluten-free options on the menu. What an amazing farm shop and caffee!!! Very well equipped.
