Very nice bar & brasserie with dining and seating both inside and outside at the kerb-side. The seating outside is covered and is a great spot to simply sit and watch the world go by. We sat down and within minutes, despite being a busy Thursday lunch hour, the waiter came out to serve us. On this occasion we only had drinks, but we sat for nearly an hour in the early autumn sunshine (with occasional spots of rain, but we didn't care as we were sitting in a covered area). Our drinks arrived minutes later; a 33 cl Leffe and a hot chocolate - €8.20. The waiter was very polite and friendly. The bar was almost full inside, clearly a very popular bar and brasserie at lunchtime. Whilst we didn't eat on this occasion a lot of people were. All of the staff were smartly dressed with black trousers and shoes plus smart white shirts with bow ties. Nice example of typical French café. Waiters in black and white, groups of customers drinking and eating. Meal examples include lamb shank, steaks, veal, pizzas, mussels. Buzzing. Quand je reviens sur Cahors J'y y retournerais. Correct I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We went here simply because everywhere else was either full or closed. However, we had a pretty good lunch. The food is definitely nothing to write home about - but it’s not pretending to be. Standard, basic brasserie fare. I could tell a story about what awful and rude service I received but as you see, there are many one star reviews mentioning the rude service and rude management/owner. There are many great restaurants in Cahors with better food, friendly service, prettier atmosphere. In short, this place is a miserable dump. Very rude helpers. After 10 minutes of waiting I went to the desk and command a beer. -Where are you sit?- Just there (All the staff were watching a football match). Another 15 minutes pass and I go to the desk. I say Am I getting my beer or shall I wait for the match to end in order to be served? The beer finally came but the waiter came threatening me: you should not speak like that, you will go down if you speak like that. I just leave without drinking. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff - terrible food. The risotto was the worst risotto I have ever had, and possibly the worst restaurant meal I have ever had - hard rice, in a curdled white sauce with soggy, half-cooked unpeeled prawns on top. My partner's carbonara was slightly better though still below average. We didn't have the pizzas, but they looked as bad as described in another recent review. However, the place was busy on a Saturday night so it must have something going for it - or they were all tourists rather than locals!
