Lovely bar , nice and clean environment. Delicious food prepared just right. We received a very warm welcome where a first Impression is fundamental. Will definitely return. We had relatives out of the area come with us on this visit and we all had a great again. The service from everyone there was great as usual. Nice pub, ,clean toilets I drove about 20 miles to have a dinner here but I was disappointed by a waitress who told me that the whole venue was booked while you could see that 90% of the tables were empty and obviously they could serve me if they wanted but they refused to do so. Will never come here again 😞. I casually popped in with my friend last night around 18:30 for a quick snack and a drink. She spoke to the at the bar, but got turned away as was told it’s “fully booked”. I couldn’t believe my ears, so I spoke to the barman myself - and heard the same thing. We left, despite the place being nearly empty (there was literally only a couple of people inside). Disappointing. Judging by other reviews, there’s an issue with the kitchen? P.S. Greetings to the Mr. Barman who was hot & handsome, I couldn’t even articulate my words properly 😻😻😻 Two Fridays in a row unable to get food. First occasion the walk in fridge was broken so unable to cook, ok understandable, today even though pub was quiet they weren't taking in walk ins only bookings. They have been pushing for business with a 30% off mains, this is what enticed me back as I used to be a regular but the food was going down hill so we went elsewhere, 2 failed attempts, think I'll be staying elsewhere. What an absolutely joke. Tried to order food at 7pm pm a Monday evening and kitchen closed due to no chef. Beer was served completely flat and without head. At all cost avoid this place and save your money on a decent reputable take away that have chefs to cook for you. Lovely generous carvery It was our first time visiting, on our way to an empty table we were told there would be a 45 minute wait. We didn't mind as we could have a few drinks first. The bar were great, I was at the bar when my food arrived and the gentleman offered to bring our drinks over so I wouldn't have to wait. The food was not very warm but I can put that down to the kitchen being overwhelmed. The here are normally excellent, the venue excellent and the food superb. ONE MASSIVE PROBLEM on this visit! MY WAS taken away before I had finished it. I ONLY popped to the bar to order drinks and ask if some of my meat could be 'wrapped' for take away, I HAD NOT finished my meal!!!!! They did not resolve this when I initially complained, and I went away still hungry, so wrote this review!. This HAS SINCE BEEN EXPLAINED & RESOLVED. I spoke to the owner of the Old Inn and the manager, and they were very busy at the time and new were being trained. I have since re-visited and had a free for my trouble, which was fair and a good gesture by the Old Inn owner/management. The service on this ocassion was superb (as usual)! The Gentleman running things on the day (I think was the duty manager) was simply amazing, and very professional! I will be returning. This pub and the Bryncoch Inn firmly remain as 2 of my favourite eatery pubs in the Swansea & Neath area. Really improved We booked for Mothers day and booked for 1pm as we were a table of 9, we didn't get our until 2:50pm! Food was ok, but not hot. Husband paid at the end, didn't get asked if was ok but did state to the manager that waiting that time was not acceptable! Manager stated that they were 1 chef down, didnt seem that bothered and this was.not advised to us on arrival! We had a 5 year old that was starving and then in turn the rest of us! Would have been quicker to cook one at home! Valentines night and it was quiet so we could hear ourselves speak. Lovely and cosy. We were warmly greeted by the landlady and placed our food and drinks order. The food arrived quickly and was excellent ( cowboy burgers and lasagne). The portions were generous and the food well presented. The waitress checked on us mid way through our meal. All the were attentive and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this pub to anybody looking for pub food in a warm and atmosphere. Just came in for on your offer. Would have thought this was to build customer base. No chef. What’s the point The lady who greeted us as we came in, did so from her seat at the bar. She did not get up at any point at all to greet us and talked to us across the room from where she was sat. Did not even show us to our table, just said you can sit anywhere in the bar area. Then she returned her face back to the laptop resting on the bar. The venue was empty, so she was not rushed off her feet to warrant the lack of hospitality we received. Arrived at 1.30 and was greeted by a very waitress. We were given a lovely table by the window , only criticism was one of the chairs looked a bit worse for wear and well worn and it was right next to a radiator which we quickly turned off. Ordered food at 1.55 but food did seem to take a long time to arrive considering there was only 4 of us and we had all ordered baguettes. Think it arrived just after 2.30 . Other than that though, atmosphere was lovely, only about a third of tables were full. Waitress was very cheerful and polite and made a very conscious effect to say goodbye as she saw us leaving. Food was a perfect size for lunch , warm and tasty. Car park had loads of room.
