Amazing food brilliant service was very happy with my visit sadly won't be coming back because of the cost of the ferry been ridiculously overpriced Went here as a result of a recommendation from our campsite. On arrival however every unoccupied table had a reserved sign on it. We went back out to check for outside tables but were driven back in due to wasps. Luckily though a table for two had become vacant, and we grabbed it. The food was really good. The steak and ale pie was one of the best I've had. Good chunky chips too. Good beers available. Definitely need to book or check availability though, if it was booked up on a Monday night I'm guessing its often busy. Stopped here before going on the ferry in Yarmouth. Beautiful outside area with children's play park, ideal when the weather is as good as it was yesterday. Plenty of choices for food, catering for vegetarians, vegans and gluten allergies as well. Staff was very friendly, food was brought out quickly and the portions were huge. Well priced for what you get. Will definitely visit again next we are on the island! Last minute decision to have a big meal before we return home tomorrow. Cannot fault the food or service at all. Excellent all round. Definitely recommend this place We visited the horse and groom for the 3rd and it is always such a nice experience. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing, tasty and value for money. They have a little play area for children. They are very child and dog friendly. Would highly recommend visiting. An absolutely wonderful place for a meal on the island. We made two visits during our stay, and each the food was amazing, the prices super reasonable, and all the Team so friendly and welcoming. Shout out to the specials board and the honeycomb cheesecake! Dog friendly, and a play area for the kids too. Highly recommend! We popped in here on the off chance for lunch. We were not disappointed. Food was brilliant. Lite bite lasagne for me and Bass and new potatoes for him. No dessert as we were stuffed. Staff were welcoming and service was great. Quite a few tables were reserved so that says it all. If you've not tried it before, we recommend that you do. X I'd come here before, about a year and a half ago, and I remember thinking it was the best fish and chips I'd had throughout my whole stay in the Isle of Wight. On this visit I figured my memory must have been wrong, it must've just been exaggerated over time, I went to a bunch of different, "fancier" restaurants to find the best. The last place I went to was here, and yep - it was the best by FAR. Much more modest price, not budget or anything but cheaper than everywhere else I went. They have a menu and lots of specials (which were really tempting), including a range of vegetarian options. The fish was the biggest portion I'd had that week, and it was crisp, moist and flavourful. I don't know what they put in the chips but as someone who genuinely doesn't like chips, I couldn't stop eating them. They were probably the most delicious part of the whole meal to be honest. They gave me LOADS of peas which is an absolute win in my book because I really love peas. The tartare sauce was absolutely gorgeous, really thick and creamy and not too sour or anything which is exactly how I like it. Everything went together perfectly and it was just a really solid meal. The dessert came quickly and was also really good. I got the cheesecake last too and while it's not to die for or anything it's a solid cheesecake and absolutely worth buying. Plus, I'm not sure how many people care about this, but they have an INCREDIBLE selection of RSPB charity pins. I'm a casual collector and there's no specific place to buy them, you just have to look around local shops and hope you come across a box. Most places have repeats of the same 4 or 5 pins if you're lucky, but I bought 10 here and they had at least 10 other types, none of which I'd seen before. This is my favourite spot to buy them and all of them were different from the last I visited. I truly have no idea why the gold mine is here but it absolutely is and I thank them for it. I have lots of lovely souvenirs to remember my lovely meal here.
