You need to call and reserve a in advance. Spent 2 hours underground on very informative with superb who spoke in both English and French. Highly recommend. Extreme detailed guiding, great experience! Great of an Ouvrage in pretty much perfect condition. This really drives home the point of how disorienting living underground must have been. Our shared an absolute wealth of information, though since we aren’t native French speaking, it wasn’t easy to keep up from time to time. Plan to spend at the very least two hours here with the guided tour. Ouvrage Rhorbach is an infantry or petite ouvrage of the maginot line, near Rohrbach. It is better known and signposted as Casso. The petite ouvrages were supported by artillery from gross ouvrages, in this case nearby Simershof (also can be visited). Visits are by appointment so I was able to book online and received a very prompt and helpful reply. The cost of the was 7eu which is a bargain for a 3 hour guided tour. The begins and ends at the entrance and takes in every aspect of the operation, from cooking and sleeping areas to munition storage and fighting areas. The highlight was a to a combat block where visitors were able to work the retracting turret and operate its several weapons. Not firing it of course. The is very well preserved, dry, clean and smelling of oil. It almost looks new and working in every detail. The high degree of maintenance is a credit to its operators. Our really knew his stuff and spoke good English. The main level is about 30m below ground and reached by many stairs and a working elevator. I walked down but was happy to take the elevator back up. To the combat block you also need to climb stairs. No elevator here. In fine weather it is possible to the outside of the blocks but it was raining heavily this day so that was not possible. These forts were a marvel of their time and are sophisticated even by today's standards. This is definitely worth a and if you see no other maginot line fort, check out Casso. VISITORS SHOULD WEAR WARM CLOTHING, it is 13°in the tunnels. Super! Absolutely fantastic with Ludowik at Casso! We had the pleasure of being guided by Ludowik (my sincere apologies if I misspelled the name!), whose flawless English, deep passion for history, and incredible storytelling made the entire unforgettable. He explained everything clearly, interwove fascinating anecdotes and humor into the tour, and shared many unique details that we had never heard before — like why the latrine doors were built low (to prevent unnoticed suicides). His enthusiasm was contagious, and thanks to him, Casso came to life. It wasn’t just a — it was a deeply human, moving, and insightful experience. Highly recommended! Super You need to book your and we had the chance to have Ludovic for our guide, a passionate member of the association with deep knowledge of the and is actively renovating it. It was incredible to see how much was renovated: the rooms are brought back to life, along with the different motors and even small details. Highly recommend! We had a great experience. The was very friendly, did his best to have the children participate. Very informative. Allthough it was 2,5 hours, we got the most out of it even when we had 4 kids of which 2 babies with us. Thank you so much! This is well restored and looks like it did in 1940. A marvel of engineering. The with Ludovic was excellent. Highly recommended (also do a of Simserhof, which is not as well preserved but really huge). I usually avoid guided tours but this one was absolutely amazing. Informative, fin, interactive. Quite unpredictable. I would strongly it! A brilliant experience that I found informative and educational. Our was very knowledgeable and friendly and I enjoyed that we could get so close to the fully restored and working equipment. I thoroughly a to Casso. This was a very well organized tour, and the leader was quite knowledgeable. Casso is a medium size fort, so the 2 hour went to many places. It was also nice to have some hands-on experiences. Superbe visite. Lieu chargé d'histoire. Le , Kévin au top. Je recommande vivement.
