Il monumento è ciò che resta del grandioso progetto di Alessandro Antonelli per la realizzazione della Chiesa Parrocchiale dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, una chiesa che sarebbe dovuta essere grande quasi quanto la Basilica di San Pietro di Roma. Poi con l'allestimento della mostra di sculture di ceramica una meraviglia! Consiglio di entrare anche nella chiesa! Molto affascinante! Io sono di Milano, mi sono recato in questo luogo l'anno scorso con i miei amici per visitare la mostra della ceramica. Devo dire che tutto sommato ci è piaciuta e ne siamo rimasti contenti, è un evento particolare e la location è carina. Lo consiglio. Una sosta alla rotonda non può certo mancare se in visita al paese. L’idea era ambiziosa (forse troppo vista l’intenzione di eguagliare quasi la basilica di San Pietro a Roma) ma l’esaurirsi dei fondi portò all’interruzione dei lavori iniziati nella prima metà del 1800 su progetto di Antonelli. Successivamente, nella seconda metà del secolo, venne costruita la chiesa, in stile neogotico (interno non visitato). L’ampio spazio si presta molto bene all’esposizione di opere durante l’annuale mostra della ceramica. Sito interessante, ceramiche artistiche veramente meritevoli. From inside the Rotonda, looking outside you can see on the right the bell tower of the previous romanic church, still serving. In front of you the Pomodoro's ceramic arch, a famous artist, back of it a 1700 old palace home of the Marie. Leaving the Rotonda, back of the bell tower, a very friendly cafeteria, whit a very big croissants choice and a lovely cappuccino. Left of the Marie a very good eating restaurant: the Tre Re, years ago one star Michelin.
