It's very hard to get there and doesn't really pay off. A very steep slope takes you to the shore of the reservoir. The landscape is very beautiful, but the path is partly overgrown and is partly a single-track-road. If a car comes towards you, it is very unpleasant.You can see the sparse remains of ruins from the distance. You would have to walk a fair bit or have an off-road vehicle. A normal car could get stuck - especially in bad weather - or be damaged by large stones on the bad track. The place is unique and has a great atmosphere, particularly for those interested in the history of the Templars. The way there is challenging and dangerous, as it includes some 7km through a narrow, steep, rocky dirt road. Unless you are an experienced driver and has at least an suv, do not go. If you park by the parking lot next to the water tanks you walk through an impressive landscape with olive trees and ‚wild’ goats which brings you directly to the abandoned village Foinikas Templar Knights. Directly situated next to the water reservoir. The atmosphere was really special - it was extremely quite on the other hand suddenly very windy. We were mostly on our own. The little hike takes about 45-60 minutes to the ruines and back to the car. Definitely it. The scenery is breathtaking. Hint: Take some water and a picnic with you - better wear sneakers oder hiking shoes. I enjoy visiting the historical sites across Cyprus, after reading up on the site I was excited to visit it and check it out, however once I was there I was not impressed, the to get there was really bad and if you do not have 4 wheel drive or a with high clearance I would use caution. I will let the photos do the talking and for why I only gave it 2 stars. I would not take a special trip to visit, however if you are near and have the right kind of I would still recommend visiting it. Incredible place to visit, with no tourists ! You will find calm and peaceful atmosphere while staring at the lake. The place cannot be reached by car unlike what is shown by Google Map, so there a little river to cross (free foot massage) and 20min walking, it ! It's a very tough to this place. Not very popular in this case. We were alone there on Sunday. We left our car in the top area and walked to the village for three kilometers. It was still it. You can drive directly to the place if you have an off-road or rental car. ;) Nice and calm place, no tourists because you need to pass 2 km by walk. But ut qas it. Or you can use 4x4 car. A beautiful place with stunning views of an abandoned village set against the backdrop of a lake and dam. Getting there involves an enjoyable drive of about 2 kilometers on dirt tracks, some of which have obstacles that require a light 4x4 vehicle. A heavy-duty off-road isn't necessary, but it’s recommended to have a car with basic off-road capabilities, or at least a very skilled driver experienced in off-road driving. A wonderful experience for those looking for a unique site with breathtaking scenery and a touch of history. If you want to see dam from other side and you have 4x4 car it is worthy to see Off-road needed to reach the area of village, or consider leaving the regular car about 1 km prior to the actual site. The place is really abandoned, the view is quite impressive, but causes mixed feelings..why it wasn’t tide up? High grass and graffiti, no road, no signs… The place is not seeing, and even less visiting considering how bad the road, leading to it, is. Even dedicated off-road vehicles will come out of there badly damaged, and you’ll have to drive at a walking pace to not get shaken to death inside. Then you’ll have to park 1,5-2kms away from the place as the road* ahead is completely destroyed, you’d have troubles getting through on a big quad, even walking is hard. *Road meaning a rocky, uneven, unstable piece of *%#$. The village itself is filled with graffiti, you don’t really get a vibe of it being ancient as there are seemingly modern (although destroyed) buildings around. Not visiting.
