Frequently mentioned in reviews: Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Key Summary - Need to reach via private transportation otherwise you need to long way and it quite difficult in summer - We walked approx 1 Km and views are amazing - Recommended to use good quality shoes since sometimes its really slippery - No tickets to enter in the canyons Sehr schöne Schlucht und Wanderung drum herum. Wirklich empfehlenswert. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The canyon is quite beautiful, but the parking area is very far from the canyon itself. It’s best to wear proper hiking gear to get there. Visiting with kids can be quite challenging due to the complicated route. Also, expect it to be crowded with lots of people. Avakas Gorge Canyon is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Paphos, Cyprus. The natural beauty here is simply overwhelming. The gorge offers stunning views, with towering rock formations and a diverse array of flora and fauna that make it a true paradise for nature lovers. The hike through the canyon is a rewarding experience, providing a unique glimpse into the rugged and pristine landscape of Cyprus. However, be prepared for the heat, especially during the summer months. It's essential to carry plenty of water to stay hydrated. Additionally, the to the gorge is quite challenging; it can be difficult to navigate due to the rocky terrain. A vehicle with good ground clearance is highly recommended. Despite these minor challenges, Avakas Gorge Canyon is a must-see destination. The breathtaking scenery and the serene atmosphere make it well worth the effort. Don't miss this gem on your visit to Paphos! Attention! Do not use the from Paphos which is taking you through mountains. It’s very very bad conditions except you have jeep or very good patience. So if you will see a signs of constructions - turn back and not go there!!! There is another way to reach Canyon from opposite side first take to the map “White river beach” you see many stone sculptures made by people (added picture how it looks) take this to Canyon it will take only 10 minutes from this beach view point. If you want to see only Canyon it’s takes from parking/caffe slot only 15 minutes to reach this and back 15 minutes. Total spend time max 1 hour with photo shoots. Canyon not big and there is birds who might scared you by they active flying - be careful sometimes they do this way that small stones can fall down on your head. And don’t forget to wear normal hiking shoes in some places it’s very slippery especially if was rainy before. I wish you good luck and of course it’s worth to visit once ☺️ P.S. it’s free of charge. Beautiful walk, adventurous and not too difficult. It is possible to with kids. It gets a bit busy on the where you between the rocks. But once you pass that and go further it's less crowded. Explore the tight rock formations and take in the stunning views of Avakas Gorge. Get ready to scramble over some large boulders and tread carefully on the slick stones as the gorge narrows. Keep an eye out for mountain goats while you're at it! Spring is the ideal time to visit since the wildflowers are in full bloom. Plus, it's just under 15 miles from Paphos, so it's a perfect day trip from the city. After your adventure in the canyon, make your way to nearby Lara Beach for some much-needed chill time. Fantastic place. Around 1km to the where the stone is held between the gorge walls. Did it with a bike. Not on it(impossible - or is it?) but carrying it when needed. Not many people do full route(saw no one after half path mark. Usually they go to the middle or little further and then go back. Lot of them in sneakers or sandals. And with kids. So it's not that hard as you see. There's some creek crossing and stone hopping but nothing really difficult. From time to time very small fragments of debris were falling. Would not go there during a rain. Something bigger could drop from above. Best option to reach the starting is a car. The dirt is not very car friendly, but with a regular vehicle, it's possible. If you have 4x4 of course better. You can also take a bus 615(from Paphos) then change to 616 and some extra km. Overall it's worth a visit. Probably one of the most 'nature type' interesting part of Cyprus. Bonne randonnée avec de beaux spots Amazing view!!! But choose carefully the roud - one of them are terrible and really dangerous with a small rental car. The other roud (near Lara beach) is much more better! Have been coming to Cyprus for years, but only just discovered Avakas gorge. It really is one of the best areas in Paphos to walk. If you are fit!. Good footwear recommended. I'm a senior citizen and didn't complete the up to the viewpoint. Started off too late. But I'll be back.
