Staff acknowledged us as soon as we walked in, both very polite and genuinely thankful for custom We are staying at Eye Kettleby Lakes camp site and this morning decided to walk over March House Farm for coffee, I had read that although the cafe wasn't dog friendly there was an outside area where dogs were welcome. I made the mistake of entering through the front door and ordered 2 takeaway coffees we walked around the back to the seating area to find all wooden seats which were wet and no shelter. There was a large barn with lots of tables in set up for their Halloween weekends but the gates were locked, so basically I'd spent £6.80 to stand outside in the drizzle !!! They are so missing a trick here, there were 8 people in the restaurant when we left at 11.45. Eye Kettleby site has a really lovely restaurant with great food and 2 sides one is no dogs and the other dog friendly, we were in there for lunch and it was virtually full, it's open to non campsite residents. There are lots of dogs on the site where I'm sure the owners would love to visit March House and spend their money. The best fillet steaks we have ever purchased, they literally made our Christmas Day! Excellent quality meat, the pork chipolatas were very tasty too. Lovely premises and very helpful staff. Whether its a Sunday roast, Yorkshire pudding wraps or Pie of the day, the meals do not disappoint. There's also a great farm shop where you can buy local produce. 10/10 Visited the farm shop on good recommendations and had high hopes - but was incredibly disappointed with the visit. To start, the staff member who ‘welcomed’ us in was incredibly rude and did not make us feel welcome. He took our drinks orders quickly and gave less than 5 minutes before coming back to take the food order when we had already requested more time to look through the menu. I would describe this staff member as an older gentleman with dark hair, and can confidently say that all of the younger staff were much friendlier and hospitable. When the food was delivered, it was incredibly overcooked and dry. I would not visit again and will not be recommending this place to others. Brilliant for haloween and all year, we went Pumpkin picking today but didn't make it to the field for an hour due to our 2 year old being pleasantly suprised their was a huge sand pit to play in with tractors, diggers buckets it was brilliant and it was under cover with a hot drink bar with plenty of space and benches. The photo opportunities made were also great around the farm and fields, the maze was the perfect size for him and the walk was just right to get to the pumpkins which they had a huge variety with fair prices. Would highly recommend anyone to come here, suitable for all! I popped into March House Farm Shop yesterday to pick up some steaks for dinner. It was my son's birthday and as he enjoys fillet, I went for that. Well, they were 4 of the best steaks we've had. We really enjoyed them and we all agreed we will be back! A great butcher with locally grown, well kept meat. Highly recommend!
