Me and my sister travelled here from Lisburn and we couldn't believe how beautiful this place is. The is so clean and stretches for miles. The is surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Mourne mountains. There is a lovely promenade to walk around and lots of shops, cafes and bakeries to visit. The parking is free and there is accessible parking and toilets near the promenade. Clean and safe but not great facilities. Ice cream shops, coffe shops and all you would expect from a tourist seaside town. Toilets are few are far between and... well... Use at your own risk. Long traffic queues to get near the place if the weather is good at the wekend. It can be difficult to find somewhere to park. For the best time at the shore with your family, you can look forward to creating beautiful memories together while enjoying the sun, sand, and sea. Lovely place to visit. Wonderfully situated at the feet of Slieve Donard within 5 minutes of Tollymore Forest Park and Murlough Beach. Lovely views but the was stony, couldn't walk barefoot along it which is my favourite thing to do. Loads of free parking which was great but the toilets were terrible! Dirty smelly and no toilet roll. Love going here but the drive down is a nightmare. It takes forever even though its just down the road. Newcastle itself can be very very busy as its a popular holiday town for families etc. Plenty of shops, B&B's, restaurants and cafes. The is quite nice although there are a lot of stones and it's not wheelchair accessible. Which is a shame. A stone throw from the is slievedonnard car park and the river trail up the mournes.
