I almost don't want to write a review for this place because it feels a bit like a well-kept secret, but I can't help myself so I'm going to spill the beans. The food was exceptional, locally sourced without all the trumpetry that usually gets written all over menus. The ⁶service was perfect, friendly, helpful but without being too hovery or annoying. It is expensive but believe me it's worth every penny. I'm just waiting for another occasion that means I can justify going back. It is my new favourite eatery in this area. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I've only not given the 5 stars because I didn't go into them but if the same care and dedication has been used on them as the food and drinks list, then I'm sure they are fantastic. Omg this is a gem . It punches way above its weight . The owners are a delight such sevice. The food was very and beautifully presented as were the desserts. We stopped in for after visiting the Fleet Arm Museum. We were bang on time for the kitchen to close on a quiet Thursday, but they still offered us a vegetable soup and rosemary bread. Had a here on a Friday night. was exceptional - enough time between courses but not too long. Servers knew which plate was mine and which was my husband's without sometimes even taking the order - extra special touch! I had squid to start and my husband the carbonara, both perfectly cooked. I then had the lamb which had the right colour and the sauces/pureees accompanied it perfectly. My husband had turbot which was flaky and served with gnocchi and a gorgeous lobster bisque. Dessert was exceptional - we could've ordered double! Pannacotta smooth and creamy with zingy blackcurrant sorbet. Sticky toffee drenched in sauce without being too sweet - perfection. This is a favourite haunt for lunch, particularly on a Sunday. food, great and value. Well worth a visit. Had a glorious Sunday lunch. The price is higher but so is the quality. and food are both excellent. The lamb is not to be missed! You’ll feel nicely sated, in an intimate but relaxed dining space. Not ideal for children unless eating outside. The pub is wonderful. Fantastic Sunday roast in a gorgeous setting, great if you go with kids or dogs and a host. A favourite for sure! We booked an evening and the food was to die for, absolutely fabulous, we will definitely be back 😀 No score for rooms, as we didn't stay and four stars for location only to warn you it's tricky to find, but is it worth the trip - Oh, my goodness, it is SO worth finding. We had no idea how sophisticated and a lay ahead of us. The lobster risotto 'al salto' took us completely by surprise - absolutely perfect. We had the chicken supreme and the Creedy Carver duck as mains and finished with sticky toffee pudding My duck skin was so perfectly rendered that it was almost a layer of crispy condiment on the perfectly pink duck meat. I've never had better. Wonderful value for money and I write this in direct comparison with a tasting menu at the latest superstar opening in Bruton that I did not enjoy even half as much, for four times the bill…... We had a brilliant stay at the Kingsdon Inn. Adam and Cinzia were really welcoming and it felt like such a family pub - the total opposite of a soulless hotel! The food was really special and it was a great spot to explore the gorgeous Somerset countryside. Visited recently for my work Christmas meal. The food was absolutely and the staff were all lovely, and extremely accommodating. Amazing and will definitely be going back. We came for an office Christmas on Saturday night and I wanted to share how fantastic the evening was. The food was exceptional, the was exceptional as was the ambience. As a chef myself, taking a night off from my restaurant, l came for your post Xmas set menu last Friday. I am so often these days disappointed with expensive mediocre food being served everywhere. After just returning from a 2-night stay, I thought I'd check some reviews and see what other people have to say. I was very surprised by some negative comments on here, so I want to address those with my own thoughts. I have stayed multiple times, so I would say I have a understanding of the Kingsdon Inn. Please don't listen to the negative reviews; they're a load of BS and are very pedantic. First of all, the staff at the Kingsdon Inn couldn't be any friendlier. Couldn't ask for better hosts than Adam and Cinzia! The food at the Kingsdon Inn couldn't be any better. We haven't had a single bad meal; every single has been a solid 10/10. I'm yet to find anywhere in the UK with this quality of food, almost everything is homemade. As for the breakfast, it's simply the best breakfast you could possibly have. I can assure you. You would never think such high-quality food would come from such a small establishment! Hats off to Adam and the rest of the chefs. The location is tucked away in the middle of the village, surrounded by a small park and houses. The first time we stayed here, it was midsummer, and it felt like we were in the middle of the French countryside! The location couldn't be better. In regards to staying here, the are perfect and have everything you need. They're super clean and spacious. Due to the age of the building, you may hear some pipes creaking every now and then from the heating, but what do you expect from a building this old? As for the reviews about the noise from below the restaurant, you're staying at a very old inn, again, what do you expect? There's only some noise during restaurant opening hours, but it really isn't that bad. The reviewers are just being pathetic. There are three rooms, and all are above the restaurant. Again, this is only an inn and not a hotel with 100 spread miles away from a kitchen. I hope this clarifies a few things, and I hope you book your stay here because you'd be silly not to. There aren't many places like this in the country, I can assure you! Another at this delightful pub! Great service, atmosphere and the food is DELICIOUS!
