Fantastic walk, tarmac path, lovely tower and view at the end, information boards. Highly recommend, area for fishing also. Plenty of picnic areas Only walked from parking area down to the outdoor gym. Nice wee but seems a little secluded. Make sure children listen and hold hands near canal. Could fall in easily at the lock if they weren't careful. I'll try to get photos of outdoor gym another day. But it does look in good condition. Maybe just a little under used. People I know who visit area regularly barely know it exists. Toome is a 40 minute back and forth and has a super viewing point of Lough Neagh with a small tower that's wheelchair accessible. All free and there's some history you can learn and a poster of the full collection of birds that live in the Lough. There's a small car park at the entrance which holds about 18 cars. Halfway up there's an outdoor gym but it's in need of some repairs or at least oil for the joints. Super chill, crisp, clean and comfortable Sunday stroll dander along the canal. Fabulous and functioning lock along the way, ending in a glorious spiral turret view point as it meets Lough Neah Lough Neah. This is surely one of the hidden gems of Northern Ireland. What starts off as a car park beside a winds to one of the world's vistas, and I am in now way over-egging this. The view out over Lough Neagh is jaw-droppingly stunning. You must visit. Beautiful relaxing along the canal. 5 Stars – A Hidden Gem of Tranquility Absolutely loved the Toome Walk! It's a peaceful, scenic trail perfect for a relaxing stroll or a leisurely bike ride. The path runs alongside the water with beautiful views of the and surrounding countryside. It's well-maintained and easy to follow, making it suitable for all ages. One of the highlights is reaching the end of the trail, where you're rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of Lough Neagh—breathtaking and well worth the walk. I also enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the chance to spot local wildlife along the way. A escape from the hustle and bustle—highly recommended for anyone visiting the area! Plenty of parking in car park, extra parking available on the street for free if required. Short walk. Flat pathway, suitable for prams and walking aids. Beautiful views of lough neagh at the end. Small cafe at the start of walk.
