We were not very impressed with our stop here. Food was overly greasy (my lasagne had a pool of grease in the bottom of the dish). Service was okay but not great. Ordered ice cream for dessert and finally left without getting it. As we went up to pay the server gave us some grief about not waiting for the ice cream, claiming it had only been "10 min". I had been watching the clock since we got the spoons for the ice cream which showed up a while after ordering and it had been 15 minutes from that point. I doubt they had to churn the ice cream... A couple scoops shouldn't take 20 min or more to serve. Very small portions, £16.50 for a kids size lasagna and 10 chips, garlic bread soaking in garlic butter, lasagna very greasy. £8.50 for a very small goat cheese starter, chicken burger was good just alot of cheese. Chocolate brownie was lovely. Staff very friendly and attentive. Decor is beautiful. Excellent restaurant, just what we needed. Delicious and good value food. The staff were attentive and professional all evening. A relaxing and special meal in pleasant surroundings. Easy parking in the large public car park nearby. One of my favorite places to eat, both with family and friends. Delicious food, prepared with attention to detail, friendly staff and that atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Thank you, we have been there many times, we will be there many more. Dropped in on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon, the place is really welcoming with lots of Character. Bar staff were friendly and chatted away. We sat in the bar and had the brilliant Smash Burgers with Bacon jam, probably one of the best I've had. Football and F1 on the bar Tvs. Cracking local bar and restaurant Went in for a drink tonight and was really disappointed. The staff were standing around chatting behind the bar, showing no real interest in serving customers. After getting a couple of drinks, we were told at 10:15pm that they were closing — which was surprising enough — but then the music was turned off while we were still finishing our drinks. It made for a really uncomfortable atmosphere, and we ended up leaving more than half our pints behind. To top it off, the man behind the bar was dressed in tradesman trousers, which looked completely unprofessional for such a nice venue. I won’t be returning after this experience. It’s not the first time the staff were chatting amongst themselves not bothered to serve waiting customers. From Liverpool over for work. Honestly some of the best pub grub I've ever had. Steak cooked to perfection, burger was incredible and silver side top beef just melted in the mouth. Great service by Niamh and the team 10/10 Sunday dinner was basic but nice. The cocktails are an embarrassment, to be perfectly honest - the Bramble was 95% ice and a Mojito is apparently 80% ice, 4 mint leaves, a shot of some pre-mixed yellow substance and C&C lemonade - even at £9 you weren’t getting what you paid for. Staff were lovely, with the exception of a downright rude Dub barman who, incidentally, was solely responsible for the cocktails.
