Would have stayed longer if we hadn't already booked Eurotunnel. Delightful place. No services but large recycling and bin area. Next to walks around walls. Definitely coming back. A free aire provided outside the fortified walls, by sports ground, where you can stay 48 hours. It was very busy, over 30 last night and very peaceful sleep as church bells stopped and restarted in the morning. Felt very safe. Well signed with normal motorhome icon. Surface is semi hardstanding and dried mud and level, which looks like may be very muddy if lots of rain. The information board says no emptying, which is confusing as drive over drain, which is clearly used for black and grey waste. Plenty of bins and no water. Lovely, beautiful to visit with all the shops, bars, launderette and facilities you require. Their is nice walks along the wall top ramparts and outside the city walls in nature and clock tower in side. Their is a pretty park in the walls that has abbey ruins and plenty of childrens play equipment. Lots of cycling and dog walking routes available . Close to port and Belguim and well recommended to visit here Aire was quite full but we squeezed in, people could park a little closer which would leave more space, it was a little difficult to navigate in the pitch black, cannot complain for free stop over. Great place for our first night stop over in France. Quiet & flat. There were 4/5 other motorhomes. No services at this small site except for rubbish disposal but enjoyed a walk into Bergues for a beer. Very pretty town. We love this Aires, great place right outside the walls of the fortified town, some lovely restaurants, and bakers here, along with large supermarkets just along the road. Open gravel parking area with plenty of space for at least 30-40 vans, rubbish bins, but no other services. This is often a first stop or last stop from the Eurotunnel if we are heading north or along the northern French borders, and easy 40 min run. We use this aire every time we travel to Europe. It's free. Really quiet. No service's but ideal for a rest once you've got of the tunnel or on your way home again. As we do.
